Two injured in alleged power surge explosion in Horley
Two people have been injured in an alleged explosion caused by an underground power surge in services were called to reports of an explosion in Cranbourne Close, in Horley, at about 22:15 BST on person was taken to hospital for treatment for second degree burns, while paramedics treated another person at the Power Networks said it was working to restore power to a number of homes in the area after a power cut caused by the surge. A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed it was called to reports of an explosion."Crews assessed and treated two patients at the scene. One patient was then taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment and the second patient was discharged at the scene," they Fire & Rescue Service have contacted for comment.

Severe delays on M25 and sections closed after waste lorry overturns
A lorry has overturned spilling oil across the M25 and causing huge tailbacks throughout rush hour. The HGV crashed into another lorry on the anticlockwise carriageway between junction six (Godstone) and five (Chevening) at around 3.45am on Wednesday. Oil, diesel and waste have been spilt onto the major motorway bringing traffic to a standstill. National Highways warned the clean-up operation of the "large spillage" will be "extensive and complex" and the road will now need to be resurfaced. 'The road will be closed through morning peak period,' the agency added. Surrey Fire and Rescue service said: 'We're currently in attendance at a serious collision on the M25, between J5 and 6, Godstone to Sevenoaks. 'The road has been closed and is likely to be for some time, which will affect rush hour traffic on surrounding roads. 'Please avoid the area and allow extra time for your journey. Thanks to our partners who are also in attendance.'

Surrey wildfire warning to public amid 'heightened risk'
A fire service has issued a warning to the public saying there is a "heightened risk" of wildfires in the Fire & Rescue Service said those visiting the countryside this week could help to prevent wildfires.A spokesperson said: "This summer we are asking people to leave disposable barbecues at home, avoid setting up campfires on open areas and when you do take a picnic please take all of your litter home."The public were asked to call 999 to report a wildfire if they saw one, and not assume someone else had already called it in. "The sooner we get the record of the call, the sooner we can get to the site," the spokesperson April a grass fire at Box Hill caused by four disposable barbecues damaged the popular spot, putting wildlife and people at risk, according to the fire service previously said wetter winters and drier summers meant wildfires were becoming more of a risk, and were common in Surrey due to large parts of heathland near urban areas.

Addlestone: Firefighters tackle 'serious' blaze at block of flats
Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a block of flats in Fire and Rescue Service said it was at a "serious incident" on Henrietta Close, in the Strawberry Fields area."We have a number of vehicles in attendance and we are asking people to avoid the area while the situation is ongoing," a spokesperson road has been closed and people are being advised to avoid the area, a Surrey Police spokesperson added.
