GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Brightspeed announced Thursday it's donating $18,174 to Greene County Schools to purchase classroom equipment for elementary and high school classrooms.
The donation will go towards the school's 'Greene LEAF' program, which will then purchase computers and devices for the classrooms.

'We are so grateful for the support and cooperation of Brightspeed,' Suzanne Richey, executive director of Greene LEAF, said in a news release. 'The willingness to work with us on this grant to support our students will make a positive difference for many years to come.'
Greene LEAF is a nonprofit created by community leaders to help bridge the funding gap for materials and programming not supplied by local government.
'At Brightspeed, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work — it is an important part of our company culture,' Lymari Muñoz, marketing manager for Brightspeed's south region, said in the release. 'As we continue to bring access to our Brightspeed Fiber Internet, we also want to ensure we are uplifting the community through partnerships with other organizations who share our beliefs and commitment to digital equity in our communities.'
