Suzuki Motorcycle India Registers 16 Per Cent Growth In May 2025

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler manufacturing arm of the Japanese brand, has announced its sales numbers for May 2025. Based on the announcement, the automaker has sold a total of 1,28,896 units in the month, translating to a growth of 16 per cent when compared against 1,11,512 units sold during the same period in the last year. The aforementioned numbers include 1,07,780 units sold in the domestic market. This reflects a 17 per cent increase compared to 92,032 units sold in May 2024. The motorcycle manufacturer also registered significant growth in the export numbers with a dispatch of 21,116 units, which is an increase of 8 per cent over 19,840 units exported in May 2024. Ltd., said, 'Our performance this month reinforces the positive market sentiment towards Suzuki's offerings and sets the tone for what lies ahead. We are grateful for the trust our customers continue to place in the brand Suzuki. As we move ahead, we continue to focus on delivering consistent value to our customers through reliable products and dependable after-sales support.' Apart from sales, May 2025 has been a significant month for the brand as the manufacturer initiated the production of the Suzuki e-Access electric scooter at its Gurgaon Plant. The company has improved its product range by introducing a new Ride Connect TFT Edition of its best-selling model, the Suzuki Access, and has also launched the Suzuki Avenis, which is compliant with OBD-2B standards. At the same time, SMIPL has begun the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, signaling an expansion of its production capacity.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the Indian arm of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has commenced production of its first electric two-wheeler , the Suzuki e-ACCESSv at the company's facility in Gurgaon, Haryana. The e-ACCESS was first unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and marks Suzuki's formal entry into the electric scooter segment in India. According to the company, the e-ACCESS is intended to serve as a long-term mobility solution for urban commuters. It is equipped with Suzuki's proprietary e-Technology, featuring a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. The battery is designed to offer thermal stability and extended service life. The scooter includes Regenerative Braking, a maintenance-free belt drive, and multiple riding modes through the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector-e (SDMS-e), including Eco, Ride A, Ride B, and Reverse Mode. The battery and components undergo rigorous testing, including submersion, temperature extremes, drops, vibrations, motor bench, puncture and crush tests, the company said in a media release. The e-ACCESS has been designed to provide steady performance at varying speeds, including during low battery levels. This is aimed at ensuring consistent ride quality and control in different urban scenarios, the company added. To facilitate electric vehicle adoption, Suzuki Motorcycle India is working with its dealership network to make outlets EV-ready. This includes training personnel and setting up dedicated infrastructure for servicing electric two-wheelers.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. ( SMIPL ) has laid the foundation stone for its second manufacturing facility in India. The plant, to be built at an initial investment of around ₹1,200 crore, will be located at IMT Kharkhoda in Haryana. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from Suzuki Motor Corporation , Japan, and Suzuki Motorcycle India , including Kenichi Umeda – Managing Director, SMIPL, Takashi Ise – Executive General Manager, Motorcycle Operations, and Tsuyoshi Tanaka – Executive General Manager, Quality Assurance and Inspection Operations. Timeline In the first phase, the manufacturing unit will span 25 acres, with an additional 25 acres allocated to green space. The planned annual production capacity is 7.5 lakh units. Operations at the facility are scheduled to begin in 2027. SMIPL estimates that approximately 2,000 jobs will be created once the plant becomes operational. Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said, 'Laying the foundation stone for our second plant in India reflects our focus on not just growing as a brand, but to grow with the people and communities of India. By establishing our facility at IMT Kharkhoda, we look forward to contributing to the region's development, generating employment, and supporting the government's vision for industrial progress." The project supports both SMIPL's long-term strategy for the Indian market and broader policy objectives around infrastructure development and industrial growth.

(SMIPL) has initiated the development of its second manufacturing facility in India by laying the foundation stone for a new plant at IMT Kharkhoda, an industrial township in Haryana developed by HSIIDC. This move is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its production footprint in India to meet increasing demand and support local economic development. The foundation stone ceremony was attended by senior executives from Suzuki Motor Corporation, including Mr. Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of SMIPL, Mr. Takashi Ise, Executive General Manager of Motorcycle Operations, and Mr. Tsuyoshi Tanaka, Executive General Manager of Quality Assurance and Inspection Operations. Officials from the local administration and representatives from the Embassy of Japan in India were also present. The new plant will be constructed on a 100-acre site, with the initial phase of the manufacturing facility occupying 25 acres. An additional 25 acres will be set aside for green space, reflecting an emphasis on environmentally responsible operations. The facility will begin with an annual production capacity of 750,000 units and is expected to become operational in 2027. The Kharkhoda plant is expected to generate around 2,000 jobs once it becomes fully functional. The company plans to invest approximately Rs. 1,200 crores in the first phase of development. The plant's design will incorporate lean manufacturing practices along with modern automation and energy-efficient systems, aligning with Suzuki's broader goals of reducing its environmental impact and moving toward sustainable industrial operations. This development is aimed at strengthening SMIPL's domestic operations, improving its supply chain efficiency, and enhancing its ability to meet customer demand across the country.
