The question arises after people across the country mysteriously search for the Amazon Dating App and website on the internet using search terms like 'Amazon Dating', 'Amazon Dating App', 'Amazon Dating App India' and more. But what does that mean?
As per some viral claims online, Amazon is running a dating app and website in India, but how true is that? According to a recent Google trend, netizens searched for Amazon Dating with keywords like 'app' and 'Amazon dating is real or fake'.
Once you click on the 'Amazon Dating' link, it redirects to a URL reading ' The website looks genuine, with the Amazon logo on it and a search text that reads, "Hot Singles Near You". But this doesn't confirm the fact that it is a dating app, and a website has been launched by Amazon.
Fact Check: Has Amazon really launched the 'Amazon Dating App'?
According to a Latestly report, a fact check of Amazon Dating revealed that the website is fake, as the About page on 'Amazon mentioned that Atlas Acopian and Suzy Shinn created the website.
Moreover, the About page also mentioned that it was "built by Wojtek Witkowski/Thinko, with help from Morgan Gruer." On the other hand, the frequently asked questions (FAQs) page revealed that the 'online dating website' Amazon Dating was created as a part of a joke.
What does the FAQ of 'Amazon Dating App' say?
According to the further investigation, the FAQ page further stated that the website is not a genuine one, as its creators wanted to take the 'joke too far'.
It is also revealed that the creators of the Amazon Dating website are single themselves, and as mentioned earlier, 'Amazon Dating' is not a real online dating platform but was created as a part of a satirical project. However, the site grabbed the attention of curious netizens; it was ultimately confirmed to be a hoax.
It's also important to point out that the Amazon Dating website uses '.co' in its URL, whereas Amazon's official global website uses '.com' and Amazon India's official site uses '.in.'
