Maintenance of hygiene at Tirumala is a collective responsibility, says TTD Additional EO
Emphasising the role of the local residents in the maintenance of hygiene at Tirumala, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary said that cleanliness is a collective responsibility.
Taking part in the 'Swachh Andhra-Swachh Tirumala' initiative at Balaji Nagar on Saturday, he urged the public to contribute to the best of their ability to maintain cleanliness atop the town visited by lakhs devotees every month.
After administering the Swachh Andhra pledge, he said that guaranteeing a clean environment is not only an expression of devotion, but also good for health. The local shop keepers should ensure that free drinking water is made available to the pilgrims during the summer season.
A cleaner, greener and more welcoming Tirumala can be realised only with the active support of the residents, he said, and appealed to them not to compromise with the public health and sanctity of the town while carrying out their commercial activities.
Several key TTD officials took part in the event.
