Udupi slips to second place, but produces a topper
Udupi: Although Udupi took all necessary steps to maintain a high success rate for retaining the top position, it slipped to second place with 89.9%, compared to its top position with 94% last year, when the results were declared on Friday.

Swasthi Kamath
, a student of Jnanasudha English Medium High School, Karkala, achieved a perfect score of 625 out of 625, emerging as the sole topper from the undivided Dakshina Kannada region.
Daughter of Janardhan Kamath, a hotel manager, and Shanthi Kamath, a housewife, Swasthi said that the excellent coaching provided by her school's teachers ensured her success as a topper in SSLC. "I feel excited and happy. Though I expected good results, there was anxiety about scoring 100% marks in all subjects.
I followed the notes I received during classes thoroughly, and a thorough revision days before the examination helped me score 100% marks. The preparatory exams also helped boost my confidence," she said.
Her mother Shanthi said that Swasthi expected to be a topper. "She prepared for the examination on her own with utmost dedication," she said. School headmistress Vani K said that Swasthi was a dedicated student who used to read continuously.
"Swasthi was confident that she would excel in the exam. We are happy that our student has made the institute proud," she said.
Swasthi Kamath's outstanding academic achievement became a delightful gift for her father Janardhan Kamath, who celebrated his birthday on Friday.

Minister for women and child development and Udupi district minister Laxmi Hebbalkar said, "The district achieved a result of 89.9%, and I congratulate the district administration and the district-level education department officials for this accomplishment.

Udupi district, which previously secured the first position in PU, has now shown remarkable performance in the SSLC results as well. I wish for a bright future for all the students who passed the examination."
Deputy commissioner K Vidya Kumari said that the district put in maximum effort into retaining the top position. "The decline in academic performance among private educational institutions has impacted the district's overall academic outcomes.
We will conduct review sessions to assess the circumstances and develop strategies to enhance the results for the upcoming academic year," the DC said.
