Udupi: Although Udupi took all necessary steps to maintain a high success rate for retaining the top position, it slipped to second place with 89.9%, compared to its top position with 94% last year, when the results were declared on Friday. Daughter of Janardhan Kamath, a hotel manager, and Shanthi Kamath, a housewife, Swasthi said that the excellent coaching provided by her school's teachers ensured her success as a topper in SSLC. "I feel excited and happy. Though I expected good results, there was anxiety about scoring 100% marks in all subjects. I followed the notes I received during classes thoroughly, and a thorough revision days before the examination helped me score 100% marks. The preparatory exams also helped boost my confidence," she said. Her mother Shanthi said that Swasthi expected to be a topper. "She prepared for the examination on her own with utmost dedication," she said. School headmistress Vani K said that Swasthi was a dedicated student who used to read continuously. "Swasthi was confident that she would excel in the exam. We are happy that our student has made the institute proud," she said. Swasthi Kamath's outstanding academic achievement became a delightful gift for her father Janardhan Kamath, who celebrated his birthday on Friday.
