Sweet Love hands Khor 1st feature win in Ipoh
Ipoh trainer Khor Peng Hwa has won his first trophy in Malaysia after Sweet Love's tenacious win in the RM26,000 (S$7,900) Mitavite Asia Cup 2025 (1,100m) in Ipoh on June 8. For good measure, Khor also pulled off his first training double in Malaysia when Crazy Love ($21) scored in the penultimate Sage Hill Northwest Stake (1,200m). More popularly known as Ah Lek, the Malaysian handler - who received his trainer's licence only in April 2025 - opened his account when King Ravana saluted in Ipoh on May 24. One week later on May 31, Khor sent his first and only runner, Golden Peach, to the final meeting held at Penang Turf Club. Golden Peach finished last in a Class 4A race (1,400m) then, but Khor quickly made his way back to the winner's circle on June 8. However, he did not expect the photo finish to be in his favour in Ipoh's feature race. Sweet Love, a seven-year-old son of Outreach, assumed his usual front runner's role under Hafis Saari in the Cosmo C event and led for most of the way, until the Peter Lee-trained Wilamara (Jackie Chuah) closed in strongly on his inside past the 200m. The four-year-old debutant lunged where it mattered. For a moment, it looked to be Wilamara's winning debut in Malaysia, but the photo finish proved otherwise. It was two-time winner Sweet Love ($22) who doggedly held off Wilamara by a nose in the end. Gold Eighty-Three (Syafifie Zailuddin) finished third. Khor's two other runners, Black Thorn (Salee Saad) and King Ravana (Lim Shung Uai), ran unplaced in eighth and 10th respectively. He was relieved the Lim Chun How-owned gelding won, but Khor admitted he thought Sweet Love had lost because the runner-up looked like he was gaining momentum on the leader. "He (Sweet Love) looked like he was beaten, but I'm very lucky he won by a nose," said Khor. "I thought he lost because the horse on the inside came from behind, and looked like he was stronger in the finish. "The ground is good, and the barrier (1) is good for him today. There's only one way to ride this horse, and that's to go in front. I told the jockey to sit up there and don't pressure him. "We'll take one step at a time with him and maybe see if he can back up next week." Riden by Harmeet Singh Gill, Crazy Love also won from barrier to box in the Class 5A contest, albeit he was clearly a length ahead of the second-placed Modric at the finishing post. Khor said the drop in class helped the Outreach five-year-old at his second win. "He was in a Cosmo C race last time (May 24). He's down in class today, so it was easier for him. "I'm very happy with my double today." sharonzhang@

Geri Horner drops major clue about epic Spice Girls reunion after meeting new girl group hopefuls Sweet Love - as pop legends 'plan world tour'
Oasis may well be fuelling nineties nostalgia with their forthcoming reunion, but The Spice Girls could well eclipse the Brit Pop legends amid claims of a secretly planned world tour. The girl-group are understood to be considering a reunion of their own, six years after they filled stadiums across the United Kingdom with their Spice World mini-tour. The reported tour will be launched to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and founding member Geri Horner suggested she was keen for a return to the stage during a recent chat with new girl band Sweet Love. Pop veteran Geri, 52 - known to millions as Ginger Spice - stunned the fledgling four-piece with a surprise backstage meeting, just days after publicly supporting them on social media. The group, comprised of singers Honey, Jasmine, Venice, and Maya, posed for a series of photos with Geri, who hinted at a desire to dust off her Union Jack minidress and get back onstage. 'It was honestly insane meeting Geri,' said Honey. 'I cannot believe we met a Spice Girl after being a fan for so many years! A dream come true. 'We were joking around and asked if she would become the fifth member of our girl band - which she joked saying she'd love to. We were in awe of her!' Band-mate Jasmine added: 'It was a dream come true to meet one of our inspirations! 'I absolutely am obsessed with the Spice Girls and hopefully one day we will be supporting them on tour!' In April, Sweet Love were given the official Spice Girls seal of approval after posting a cover of their 1996 number one single Mama in conjunction with Mother's Day. The '90s girl-group commented 'Love this' on the post, before resharing the video with their 1.1 million followers on TikTok. Geri, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm are said to be meeting next week in Miami to discuss the finer details. However Victoria Beckham is '90 per cent out of the running', with the foursome pushing ahead without her for now. Geri and band manager and guru Simon Fuller are reportedly in touch again which has moved things along after years of hints from various members that they would get back together. A source told The Sun: 'There have been rumours swirling for months, but Geri has always been too busy and had other things on, preventing her from saying yes. 'Nothing is yet confirmed but Geri and Simon are back in touch with a myriad of exciting ideas. 'Unfortunately Victoria has pretty much ruled herself out, but there is still a world in which she could do some sort of avatar appearance or a special one-off thing. She would always want to honour the girls' history.' 'If Simon were to get involved, this would absolutely take any tour to the next level.' Geri will be in Miami later this week to support her F1 boss husband Christian Horner at the Grand Prix and Simon will also be there.

Shoppers Say This $5 Perfume ‘Smells Just Like' the Discontinued Bath & Body Works Pink Chiffon Perfume
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, SheKnows may receive an affiliate commission. Pretty much any beauty fan who grew up in the late '90s and early 2000s has a soft spot for at least one Bath & Body Works fragrance. And for fans of Pink Chiffon — a fruity, floral scent comprised of sparkling red pear, jasmine petals, tiare flower, vanilla orchid, and the titular chiffon musk — the hunt for a replacement has been on since roughly 2012, when the retailer discontinued the scent. Target Just Added Tons of Gorgeous New Patio Items Target Is Having a Can't-Miss Spring Sandal Sale for Circle Members Luckily, scent sleuths have discovered to Bodycology's Sweet Love Fragrance Mist, saying the sparkling red pear, sweet strawberry, and warm musk body mist 'smells just like' the beloved discontinued fragrance. 'If you are a lover of Pink Chiffon by Bath and Body Works… this is the EXACT match,' one reviewer shared. 'Pink Chiffon was my high school fragrance… When I found out they discontinued it, I was SO upset. I went to the store one day and this bottle caught my eye. Nostalgia hit me.' Buy Now $5 What makes this $5 body mist such a fan favorite — beyond the obvious scent similarities — is how wearable it is. The fragrance strikes that sweet (and slightly floral) balance without being overwhelming. One shopper with a self-proclaimed 'VERY sensitive' nose confirmed that Sweet Love is light enough to layer, even with the matching body wash: 'Even after using both the wash and spray together, it's still a sweet floral light fragrance.' While it leans on decadent fruity-floral notes like red pear and strawberry, shoppers say Sweet Love isn't too sugary. A warm base of musk gives it a more grounded finish, making it an easy pick for daily wear. 'Almost like roses and cotton candy,' one customer wrote, 'but in the best way.' The spring-time body fragrance's formula is also free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and aluminum — so it's a solid option for those avoiding harsher ingredients. Bonus: it's vegan and cruelty-free, which one reviewer pointed out makes it 'an awesome price in comparison to BBW body sprays and body washes.' As another shopper summed it up, 'I'd say it's almost bang on! Will definitely be getting more once I run out!' So, for those still mourning the loss of Pink Chiffon — or for anyone who's feeling nostalgic for softer, sweet floral scents — why not give Bodycology's $5 Sweet Love Fragrance Mist a shot? Opinion - Democrats must strike a balance between strength and empathy
Empathy is an obscenity in Elon Musk's vocabulary. The words care, share and fair are not in the MAGA lexicon. The Tesla CEO exposed his contempt for compassion in an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan. The headline in the CNN digital story says it all, 'Elon Musk wants to save Western civilization from empathy.' The hit 1960s song by Jackie DeShannon, 'What the world Needs Now (is Love, Sweet Love),' is not in the rotation on Musk's Spotify playlist but 'Sympathy for the Devil' by the Rolling Stones probably gets lots of action. President Trump's enforcer told Rogan, 'The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit.' He went on to say, 'There they're exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.' Musk pointed to seniors who are recipients of Social Security in the same interview. He portrays the program as a fraudulent 'Ponzi Scheme' even though Social Security has saved millions of Americans from deprivation and despair in their twilight years. He also took a shot at immigrants and accused them of exploiting the 'bug' in his uncaring authoritarian system. The very same people, like my great grandparents, who come to the U.S. seeking political freedom and economic opportunity for themselves and their children. The immigrants who made this a great nation built on their blood, sweat and tears. Foolish me, I always thought that the flaws in civilization were the destructive wars that cause senseless deaths, mass famine and widespread homelessness. Little did I know. You can make a strong argument that the greed that leaves millions in abject poverty to satisfy the whims of bloodless billionaires was the real bug in our behavior. I would have never guessed that empathy is the big problem facing the modern world. A student once asked the famous anthologist Margaret Mead what the first sign of civilization was. She replied that the first sign was a healed human femur. It was a sign that a wounded person must have received help from others. Helping someone else is where civilization starts. Musk may not have much sympathy for seniors, immigrants or hungry kids but he does have a soft spot for cruel and callous dictators who were responsible for the murders of tens of millions of people. In his now deleted diatribe that he shared on X, he wrote 'Stalin, Mao and Hitler didn't murder. Their public sector employees did.' Musk's attitude explains his buddy Trump's loving embrace of the Russian murderous dictator, Vladimir Putin. The Trump and Musk crusade against empathy is vividly apparent in wholesale draconian budget cuts. There have been untold Trump unfeeling cuts in vital federal programs, but one outrageous example stands out. Last week the U.S. Department of Education eliminated funding for a program which gave schools the money to buy fresh food for students from local farmers and fishermen. It put much needed money into the hands of cash-strapped farmers and put healthy food into the stomachs of hungry kids. It was a win-win for everyone except for MAGA brutalists. This is the worst of both worlds for struggling middle class and poor families. Working families are having an even harder time making ends meet from rising inflation, which Trump pledged to reduce on Day One of his second term. Meanwhile, their financial struggles will only get worse because of the president's call for blockbuster tariff increases and his destruction of the social safety net that protects families during tough times. The Trump faithful love to quote scripture but they never mention Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of St. Matthew. 'Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they will be filled.' No one will ever confuse Trump and his courtiers with the Care Bears. Democrats ooze with empathy but don't show enough spine. My party needs to strike a balance between strength and empathy because uncaring Republicans under Trump never will.
