East Marsh homes to be renovated to improve living standards
Up to 60 homes are to be renovated in the East Marsh area of Grimsby to improve living standards and energy homes on Rutland Street would be "retrofitted", with upgrades to include improved insulation, North East Lincolnshire Council council was awarded £3.1m by the government last summer to carry out home improvements in the area, with plans now approved by the council's will be carried out by the council, working alongside community groups including East Marsh United.
Rutland Street was chosen following a borough-wide council said it could later seek funding to improve the wider area around Rutland Street, with new fencing and greenery.A similar scheme was implemented in nearby Guildford Street in Swinburn, portfolio holder for housing, infrastructure and transport, said: "These visual and structural improvements to homes will inject a sense of community pride, reduce anti-social behaviour and promote safety, well-being and a more cohesive neighbourhood."Stan Shreeve, portfolio holder for adult public health and wellbeing, added: "Projects like this also pay dividends to people's mental and physical health."Good homes are proven to help reduce respiratory issues and improved energy efficiency will ease worries about bills and spending."
