RCMP investigate vehicle-pedestrian collision in Cape Breton

RCMP Northeast Traffic Services is investigating a vehicle pedestrian collision in Portage, N.S.
RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a collision report near the 3000 block of Kings Road on Tuesday at approximately 7:45 a.m., said a police news release.
A 30-year-old woman who sustained life-threatening injuries was found in the ditch at the scene. She was transported to hospital by EHS.
The driver, a 41-year-old man, faces charges of failure to stop after accident resulting in bodily harm and aggravated assault after being arrested at a home in Big Pond, said the release. He's scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on August 7, 2025.
Police said he fled the scene of the accident in his gray, Dodge 3500 before turning himself in to police later in the morning.
