Syed Modi 2025 prizemoney increased
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association (UPBA) is set to host the Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial All-India Senior Ranking Tournament and the
Syed Modi India International 2025
from Sept 12–19 and Nov 25–30, respectively. The prizemoney for the Syed Modi tournament has been increased by US$30,000 this year.
UPBA secretary Sudharma Singh said that the association released its annual calendar on April 23 and decided to raise the prize money for the Syed Modi tournament to US$240,000, up from last year's US$210,000.
"The tournament will feature India's star shuttlers including
PV Sindhu
, Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, etc., who are expected to join the competition. In previous years, some badminton-playing countries did not participate in the Syed Modi tournament as they were committed to their national games," he added.
"This year, top shuttlers are more likely to participate in the Syed Modi tournament, especially since many have been struggling to win matches and are looking to gain ranking points. The tournament is expected to attract both star and emerging players," he said.
