Seychelles and Germany remain committed to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations

H.E Mr. Sebastian Groth, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Seychelles, called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Tuesday 27th May 2025. Ambassador Groth gave Minister Radegonde an overview of the political landscape in Germany now that the country is under new leadership. Minister Radegonde congratulated the new Government for their victory and looked forward to working with the new administration to propel bilateral relations. Minister Radegonde took the opportunity to request Germany's assistance in advocating for Seychelles to be removed from the European Union's list of Non-Cooperation Jurisdictions on Tax Matters (Seychelles is currently on the EU grey list). He also enlisted Germany's support to push for the implementation of the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI), which was adopted during the United Nations General Assembly in August 2024. The two diplomats discussed training opportunities to build capacity in the fields of energy and climate change, tourism related issues including the flights to be undertaken by Discover Airlines, as well as international issues which have a direct or indirect impact on Seychelles and Germany. Seychelles: All-female Indian Defence Forces crew pays courtesy visit to Minister Sylvestre Radegonde

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde welcomed a delegation of 9 women from the Indian Defence Forces at Maison Queau de Quinssy on Tuesday 6th May 2025. The all-female crew left Mumbai on April 7th to sail to Seychelles onboard the IASV TRIVENI. The crew of 11 is composed of 6 officers from the Indian Army, 4 officers from the Indian Air Force and 1 officer from the Indian Navy. During the meeting, the Commanding Officer of the IASV Triveni, Captain Dauli Butola gave Minister Radegonde an aperçu of the various weather conditions they faced during their trip to Mahe as well as how this sailing journey has been a learning experience for them. She noted that aside from improving their navigational skills, they've also been able to learn more about seamanship, meteorology and weather monitoring. The crew reached two milestones in their sailing journey, which was crossing the Equator for the first time and this being the first time they've accosted on a foreign coast. Minister Radegonde expressed his deep appreciation for the visit of the female-led vessel and wished the crew a pleasant stay, as well as a safe return home. Captain Butola was accompanied to the meeting by the Indian High Commissioner to the Seychelles, Mr Kartik Pande and Second Secretary at the Indian High Commission, Mr Vikram Grewal. Seychelles and Egypt signed a Visa Waiver Agreement for diplomatic and Official passport holders during the weekend in Cairo, Egypt. This was on the margin of a two-day official visit of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, H. E Badr Abdelatty, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs from 5th to 6th April 2025. During a bilateral meeting, the two parties discussed the possibility of also extending the visa waiver to ordinary passport holders. They also held discussions on several areas of mutual interest such as climate change, maritime security. The Egyptian minister has reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to continue to support Seychelles in its capacity building efforts. Minister Radegonde also held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. Their discussions centred on cooperation in the health sector, including training, the recruitment of medical practitioners and the procurement of pharmaceutical products from Egypt. Minister Radegonde has also had discussions with the Minister for Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Ahmed Issa. Both Ministers have expressed their interest in exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the field of training and hospitality staff exchanges, During the visit, Minister Radegonde also visited the three Seychellois presently incarcerated in Egypt and held discussions with the Assistant Minister of Interior for Community Protection, Major General Hazen Ezzel-Arab. Minister Radegonde was accompanied on this visit by Ambassador Conrad Mederic and senior officials from the Foreign Affairs Department. Egypt, Seychelles expand health cooperation with focus on training, medical support

Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Seychelles, along with Ambassador Conrad Mederic and an accompanying delegation, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector. The meeting, held at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, focused on expanding collaboration in medical training, treatment services, and the exchange of expertise. According to ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Health Minister welcomed the delegation and underscored the longstanding relationship between Egypt and Seychelles. He expressed Egypt's commitment to supporting health security in Seychelles and enhancing the quality of medical services available to its citizens. The two sides discussed training programs for Seychellois doctors and medical teams in Egyptian hospitals, particularly in specialized fields. The talks also covered Egypt's readiness to send medical professionals to Seychelles to help build local capacity and provide on-ground training tailored to the country's healthcare needs. In addition, the meeting addressed the possibility of receiving Seychellois patients for treatment in Egyptian hospitals and supplying Seychelles with essential medications in accordance with its requirements. Minister Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed Egypt's willingness to deploy experienced medical teams to Seychelles to perform surgeries and support the operations of local healthcare facilities. Foreign Minister Radegonde praised Egypt's healthcare system and medical expertise, expressing his country's interest in drawing on Egypt's experience to strengthen Seychelles' health infrastructure and improve services for its population.

Seychelles and France sign an Extradition Agreement

On Thursday 20 March 2025, a signing ceremony was held at Maison Quéau de Quinssy where Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, and H.E. Mrs. Olivia Berkeley-Christmann, the Ambassador of France, formalised an Extradition Agreement between Seychelles and France. This signing concludes numerous consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the Attorney General's Office, and French representatives. The purpose of the Extradition Agreement between Seychelles and France seeks to enhance the extradition process for suspected criminals, improve the focus on crimes that are recognised by both countries, and will provide an enhanced response to transnational crime. The conclusion of the Agreement also signifies the collaboration and a reinforcement of the diplomatic relations between Seychelles and France.
