Two men deny raping relatives

KOTA KINABALU (June 17): A man claimed trial in a Sessions Court here to raping his cousin.
The 35-year-old man, who appeared before judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code.
The charge carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
He was accused of raping his 14-year-old relative at a house in Penampang in July 2024.
The court fixed July 16 for case management and the accused was released on RM6,000 bail with two local sureties.
He was ordered to report to a nearest police station on the first of every month and to surrender his passport to the court if any, pending disposal of the case.
In a separate case, a young uncle pleaded not guilty in the same court to raping his teenage niece.
The 24-year-old man had allegedly committed the offence on his 17-year-old niece at an unnumbered house in Tamparuli at 11pm end of June 2024.
The judge set July 17 for case management and the accused was granted RM6,000 bail with two local sureties.
The man, who was represented by counsel Sylyester Kuan, was charged under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code.
If found guilty, he is liable to a jail term of up to 30 years and whipping, upon conviction.
