Events planned for Pride Month in CNY
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — June is Pride Month, which celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community and throughout this month, Central New York Pride (CNY Pride) and others are celebrating with a number of events. The list below is some events celebrated by the LGBTQIA+ community in Syracuse. For additional information and more Pride events, visit CNY Pride's website. Saturday, May 31 from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. Steps of Syracuse City Hall, on 233 E Washington Street in Syracuse 'Please join us on May 31st at 11 a.m. as we raise the Syracuse Progress Flag over Syracuse City Hall and officially kick off Pride Month in our beautiful city! We will have speakers, guests, and lovely music. All are welcome!' Join this joyful celebration featuring speakers, music, dancing, performances, snacks, refreshments, local vendors, and more.' Syracuse City Hall fires budget director blamed with making ‘racist' comments
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The City of Syracuse has fired its budget director, a man also running for Syracuse mayor, over allegations he made 'racist' comments on social media. In a statement, a spokesperson for Syracuse City Hall writes: 'The City of Syracuse terminated Timothy Rudd as budget director effective immediately. The statements attributed to him in local media and in his own social media posts, which he does not deny making, are racist, disrespectful, and demeaning. They are inconsistent with the City's expectations—especially for those in a management role.'
