Syracuse firefighters save ducklings from storm drain
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It was a Mother's Day miracle on the corner of North Salina Street and James Street as three ducklings were rescued from a storm drain this afternoon, according to the Syracuse Fire Department. One of our viewers sending us a video of the ducklings through the drain grate, saying she was watching a mother duck, and her three ducklings cross the road when she saw the ducklings fall in. Syracuse fire crews were called, and they were able to remove the drain grate and scoop up the ducklings from the drain in a bucket, says Captain Phillip Vogt. The fire crews on the scene, along with our viewer, were able to reunite the ducklings with their mother at the Clinton Square fountain. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
