Turkish influencer Nihal Candan dies after suffering from anorexia
ALBAWABA - Popular Turkish influencer Nihal Candan recently passed away at the age of 30 after suffering from a severe case of anorexia. Several local reports claim that the star reportedly weighed 23 kilograms before passing.
According to CCN Turkey, Candan lost approximately 37 kilograms in the last two years, which worsened her already severe condition. The Turkish influencer passed while she was undergoing treatment at a local hospital, when her heart suddenly stopped, and doctors couldn't revive her using CPR.
Anorexia is an eating disorder that affects individuals in a variety of ways, including body image issues, fear of gaining weight, and repeated food restriction in the desire to stay thin.
Fashion designer Pınar Kerimoğlu revealed Candan's worsening condition shortly before fellow influencer Sıla Doğu confirmed Nihal Candan's death on Instagram.
Additionally, before her passing, Candan's sister, Bahar, wrote on her socials, "My sister was taken to the hospital, she is anorexic... Do something, my sister is dying. She could not digest what she experienced. I hope you can feel remorse for slandering a young person like this and ruining her life."

Candan was a successful Turkish influencer with more than 900,000 followers on Instagram. She first rose to fame in 2014 after appearing on "Bu Tarz Benim," a famous fashion show in Turkey.
Her popularity helped launch her own business, Nihal Candan Beauty Center. However, despite a successful career in fashion, Candan and her sister were arrested in 2023 on charges of fraud and money laundering.
After serving time in prison, Candan developed severe anorexia and lost over 30 kilograms, leading to her release in 2025 for immediate hospitalization.
