US-Korea air show returns after 6 years
Osan Air Power Days kicked off Friday at Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, reopening to the public for the first time since 2019. Running through Saturday, the two-day event showcases the strength of the US-South Korea alliance with joint aerial demonstrations and on-base exhibits. A key highlight is the performance by the 'Black Eagles,' the Republic of Korea Air Force's elite aerobatic team. Flying eight black, white and gold T-50B 'Golden Eagle' jets, the team has operated since 2013 as the 53rd Air Demonstration Group, based at Wonju Air Base. Each aircraft is equipped with white smoke generators for dramatic sky displays. The event also features aerial demonstrations by US Air Force A-10 and F-16 aircraft, and interaction with American and Korean troops. First held in 2007, the annual air show was paused due to COVID-19 and operational constraints. Unlike other Korean aerospace events, Osan Air Power Days takes place inside an active US military base, offering rare civilian access. Entry is free, with gates open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Air shows begin at 10:30 a.m. A shuttle bus runs from Seojeong-ri Station. Valid ID (passport or driver's license) is required for admission.

CJ Logistics delivers fighter jet simulators to Poland
South Korea's leading logistics firm CJ Logistics has successfully transported fighter jet training equipment to Poland, the company announced Monday. Its latest defense logistics project involved transporting two fighter jet training simulators to Poland over five weeks from December 2024 to January, moving a full mission simulator and an operational flight trainer from Korea Aerospace Industries' factory in Goseong, South Gyeongsang Province, to the Polish Air Force base in Minsk Mazowiecki. Given the simulators' intricate electronic components and complex mechanical structures, they are susceptible to external impacts and vibrations during transport. To ensure safe delivery, CJ Logistics employed a modular transport method, disassembling the cargo for transit and reassembling it on-site. For added stability, the company used vibration-free vehicles for domestic and international inland transportation. CJ Logistics also demonstrated its expertise by designing optimal air routes that complied with national airspace regulations and security protocols. The company continues to expand its presence in the global defense market by leveraging advanced route optimization and modular transport methods. Last year, it successfully transported Korea Aerospace Industries' T-50TH fighter jet to the Royal Thai Air Force's Takhli Air Base. In 2022, it delivered nine T-50B aircraft of the Republic of Korea Air Force to the UK for air shows, using the same modular approach. 'Our specialized defense logistics technology and extensive experience handling diverse cargo enabled the successful transport of these simulators,' a CJ Logistics official said.
