Waters and Chief Alan Parker gave at the scene, Officer Delong Zheng responded to a call of a fight involving injuries. When he got there, he found a drunk man standing over a man and a woman who were both on the ground, bleeding. The 58-year-old suspect was holding multiple kitchen butcher knives and ignored orders to drop them. That's when Officer Zheng shot the man, who later died from his injuries at the hospital. The two victims are expected to recover. This is Officer Zheng's first officer-involved shooting in his seven years with the agency. It is the 7th shooting involving officers this year. Turning point in Jacksonville‘s fight against gang violence? 6 arrested in child's murder

Two teenagers were arrested Friday in Jacksonville for the death of 7-year-old Breon Allen, bringing the total number of arrests up to six. The young victim's death has raised questions about the state of gang violence in Jacksonville, with Sheriff T.K. Waters responding to concerns about a potential turning point in the city's fight against gang activity. 'Breon was walking outside with someone involved in this lifestyle,' said Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters. Sheriff TK Waters is referring to Allen's cousin, Lafayette Mango Jr. Breon Allen died in the shooting that was targeting Mango, known to be associated with a rival gang. They were walking together on Commonwealth Avenue on January 24th when gunshots were fired towards them. Since then, six arrests have been made in connection to that shooting, including two on Friday: 17-year-olds Donte McGhee and Tavaris Kelly. We asked Sheriff TK Waters if these gang arrests may signal a turning point for gang violence in the city. 'I think we made a lot of strides in that direction for a while now,' Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters said. An ex-gang member in the Moncrief and Ken Knight community Nate Thomas, better known as Uncle Nate, said there hasn't been an increase in gang violence on the northside. But he said he doesn't believe there will be a major decrease in gang activity even with the Sheriff's Office's recent efforts. Read: Trial delayed for suspected Jacksonville gang members charged in 2020 murder 'No, I don't think that arresting these guys gonna stop the violence because they don't know what's going on. They don't understand and they don't comprehend the stuff that they are doing,' said Thomas Sheriff T.K. Waters confirmed with Action News Jax that all six suspects arrested in Breon's case were involved with the criminal 6 Block gang. Breon Allen's mother was shocked to find out Friday the number of young people involved in her son's death. 'To find out that it's six and all, our kids haven't even experienced life yet - that's what's crazy,' said Breon Allen's mother, Casheena Love. Sheriff Waters gave one piece of advice to people who are in gangs in the city. 'Get out and quit. There's a way out. If you don't get out, we're gonna come and get you,' Sheriff Waters. Sheriff T.K. Waters said the two arrests made Friday in Breon Allen's case were the final arrests. Lawsuit over policy-violating public strip search by Jacksonville police ends with settlement

A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit between the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and a man who was publicly strip-searched by officers. Court documents dated for the end of February show that the man who filed the lawsuit was dropping it after reaching a settlement with Sheriff T.K. Waters. Related: Jacksonville City Council approves measure to give sheriff a say in settlements involving JSO The lawsuit was filed after the man was inappropriately strip-searched on the side of a Jacksonville road in 2022. Video of the incident, first obtained by The Tributary, shows multiple JSO officers pulling down the man's pants and underwear, exposing his genitalia to onlookers. In the body camera video, he could be heard saying 'You can't bend me over like that bro. I know my rights. Police had believed that he was carrying illegal drugs. The Tributary reported that those drugs were never found, but he was charged with possession anyway. Those charges were later dropped. Action News Jax told you last year when three involved officers were disciplined for the conduct, which JSO said violated department policy. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] While Florida statute does authorize law enforcement to conduct strip searches for narcotics upon receiving written approval from a supervising officer, JSO policy only allowed corrections officers to conduct the searches. During the internal investigation at JSO, at least two of the three officers involved stated they didn't believe what they had done to the man during his arrest constituted a strip search, but after reviewing state statute, they came to believe it was a strip search. Those same two officers, Joel Belgard and Nicholas Hackley, both testified they were never trained on the agency's strip search policy. But according to JSO, all officers are trained on the agency's strip search policy. 'All police officers receive training concerning searches, to include that strip searches are to be performed by corrections officers rather than police officers,' said PIO for JSO in an emailed statement last year. The terms of the settlement were not immediately available upon Action News Jax' search of the court records. WATCH: Jacksonville, Clay, Nassau sheriffs address consequences of ‘Senior Assassin' game

It's a dangerous game being played by high school seniors in many parts of the country. It's called the 'Senior Assassins.' It's an unofficial tradition for seniors to use water guns to 'eliminate their target.' It was nearly deadly Wednesday in Yulee when an off-duty Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent saw three people prowling outside their home early Wednesday holding what appeared to be a gun. The agent shot one of them in the arm. State Attorney Melissa Nelson, Jacksonville Sheriffs T.K. Waters, Nassau Sheriff Bill Leeper, Clay Sheriff Michelle Cook, and other law enforcement leaders throughout Northeast Florida held a news conference at noon Thursday to 'discuss the potentially deadly consequences of the 'Senior Assassin' game.'
