Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Karim Badawi has inaugurated the main gas station, operated by TAQA Gas, which supplies El Kharga City in the New Valley Governorate, according to a statement. It provides gas supplies through a permanent pressure reduction station, a vehicle fueling station, and a car conversion center to natural gas. This project reflects the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), New Valley Governorate, and the private sector. Reda Abdel Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of TAQA Gas, highlighted that the main station capacity stands at 2,500 standard cubic meters per hour (SCm³/h), which can be extended to 5,000 SCm³/h. Abdel Rahman added that 270,000 meters of medium and low-pressure pipelines have already been installed and supplied with natural gas. He noted that the number of residential clients connected in Phase 1 reached 5,750, with 8,300 more targeted in Phase 2. DiDi Egypt, Master Gas collaborate to promote compressed natural gas usage - Energy
Ride-hailing app DiDi Egypt announced Tuesday a strategic collaboration with TAQA Gas subsidiary Master Gas, a distributor of compressed natural gas (CNG), to promote CNG usage among Egyptian drivers. The collaboration has been formalized through a comprehensive agreement offering financial benefits and loyalty programmes to encourage DiDi Egypt drivers to adopt CNG technology that aligns with Egypt's evolving sustainability sector. Under the agreement, DiDi Egypt drivers will benefit from discounted natural gas conversion services, available through Master Gas conversion centres, and flexible payment options, including instalment plans. This makes it easier for drivers to transition to CNG, reducing costs by approximately 20 percent. "By enabling our drivers to access CNG technology at affordable prices, we help them reduce operational costs while taking a tangible step toward a greener and more sustainable future for the country,' said Lida Xu, general manager of DiDi in Egypt, Australia, and New Zealand. 'We are proud to be part of this distinguished initiative, which embodies our dedication to innovation and environmental care in the transport sector,' he added. The services will also offer a 12-month comprehensive warranty. Furthermore, the agreement includes a loyalty programme that provides incentives to support drivers in their daily activities and ensures they receive additional benefits when refuelling. 'This partnership brings mutual benefits, with Master Gas leveraging its extensive experience and infrastructure to support DiDi Egypt and DiDi Egypt benefiting from its strong relationship with drivers. We are excited to work together to create a greener and more sustainable future, in line with the Egyptian government's vision,' stated Tarek El-Hawary, managing director of TAQA Gas. 'At Master Gas, we reaffirm our commitment to leading this transformation as the only fully dedicated private-sector company for this mission in Egypt,' El-Hawary continued. The collaboration aligns with Egypt's national automotive industry strategy for 2024-2030, which aims to enhance local car manufacturing and convert vehicles to run on natural gas. Additionally, the Egyptian government is preparing to launch a national initiative this year to convert vehicles to run on natural gas to promote cleaner energy and provide financial relief for citizens.
