Some May Be Optimistic About TASCO Berhad's (KLSE:TASCO) Earnings
The market was pleased with the recent earnings report from TASCO Berhad (KLSE:TASCO), despite the profit numbers being soft. We think that investors might be looking at some positive factors beyond the earnings numbers. Our free stock report includes 3 warning signs investors should be aware of before investing in TASCO Berhad. Read for free now. In high finance, the key ratio used to measure how well a company converts reported profits into free cash flow (FCF) is the accrual ratio (from cashflow). To get the accrual ratio we first subtract FCF from profit for a period, and then divide that number by the average operating assets for the period. You could think of the accrual ratio from cashflow as the 'non-FCF profit ratio'. As a result, a negative accrual ratio is a positive for the company, and a positive accrual ratio is a negative. While having an accrual ratio above zero is of little concern, we do think it's worth noting when a company has a relatively high accrual ratio. That's because some academic studies have suggested that high accruals ratios tend to lead to lower profit or less profit growth. Over the twelve months to March 2025, TASCO Berhad recorded an accrual ratio of -0.10. That implies it has good cash conversion, and implies that its free cash flow solidly exceeded its profit last year. In fact, it had free cash flow of RM117m in the last year, which was a lot more than its statutory profit of RM26.2m. Notably, TASCO Berhad had negative free cash flow last year, so the RM117m it produced this year was a welcome improvement. That might leave you wondering what analysts are forecasting in terms of future profitability. Luckily, you can click here to see an interactive graph depicting future profitability, based on their estimates. TASCO Berhad's accrual ratio is solid, and indicates strong free cash flow, as we discussed, above. Based on this observation, we consider it likely that TASCO Berhad's statutory profit actually understates its earnings potential! Unfortunately, though, its earnings per share actually fell back over the last year. At the end of the day, it's essential to consider more than just the factors above, if you want to understand the company properly. So if you'd like to dive deeper into this stock, it's crucial to consider any risks it's facing. Every company has risks, and we've spotted 3 warning signs for TASCO Berhad you should know about. This note has only looked at a single factor that sheds light on the nature of TASCO Berhad's profit. But there is always more to discover if you are capable of focussing your mind on minutiae. TASCO Berhad's (KLSE:TASCO) Dividend Is Being Reduced To MYR0.0125
TASCO Berhad (KLSE:TASCO) has announced that on 30th of May, it will be paying a dividend ofMYR0.0125, which a reduction from last year's comparable dividend. However, the dividend yield of 2.3% still remains in a typical range for the industry. AI is about to change healthcare. These 20 stocks are working on everything from early diagnostics to drug discovery. The best part - they are all under $10bn in marketcap - there is still time to get in early. Unless the payments are sustainable, the dividend yield doesn't mean too much. However, TASCO Berhad's earnings easily cover the dividend. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow. The next year is set to see EPS grow by 174.9%. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 15% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range. See our latest analysis for TASCO Berhad While the company has been paying a dividend for a long time, it has cut the dividend at least once in the last 10 years. Since 2015, the annual payment back then was MYR0.0129, compared to the most recent full-year payment of MYR0.0125. The dividend has shrunk at a rate of less than 1% a year over this period. Declining dividends isn't generally what we look for as they can indicate that the company is running into some challenges. Given that the dividend has been cut in the past, we need to check if earnings are growing and if that might lead to stronger dividends in the future. TASCO Berhad has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 24% per annum. A low payout ratio gives the company a lot of flexibility, and growing earnings also make it very easy for it to grow the dividend. In general, we don't like to see the dividend being cut, especially when the company has such high potential like TASCO Berhad does. The cut will allow the company to continue paying out the dividend without putting the balance sheet under pressure, which means that it could remain sustainable for longer. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock. Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. At the same time, there are other factors our readers should be conscious of before pouring capital into a stock. Investing in TASCO Berhad (KLSE:TASCO) five years ago would have delivered you a 284% gain
The most you can lose on any stock (assuming you don't use leverage) is 100% of your money. But on a lighter note, a good company can see its share price rise well over 100%. Long term TASCO Berhad (KLSE:TASCO) shareholders would be well aware of this, since the stock is up 237% in five years. So let's investigate and see if the longer term performance of the company has been in line with the underlying business' progress. There is no denying that markets are sometimes efficient, but prices do not always reflect underlying business performance. One flawed but reasonable way to assess how sentiment around a company has changed is to compare the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price. Over half a decade, TASCO Berhad managed to grow its earnings per share at 33% a year. So the EPS growth rate is rather close to the annualized share price gain of 27% per year. Therefore one could conclude that sentiment towards the shares hasn't morphed very much. In fact, the share price seems to largely reflect the EPS growth. The image below shows how EPS has tracked over time (if you click on the image you can see greater detail). This free interactive report on TASCO Berhad's earnings, revenue and cash flow is a great place to start, if you want to investigate the stock further. As well as measuring the share price return, investors should also consider the total shareholder return (TSR). Whereas the share price return only reflects the change in the share price, the TSR includes the value of dividends (assuming they were reinvested) and the benefit of any discounted capital raising or spin-off. So for companies that pay a generous dividend, the TSR is often a lot higher than the share price return. We note that for TASCO Berhad the TSR over the last 5 years was 284%, which is better than the share price return mentioned above. The dividends paid by the company have thusly boosted the total shareholder return. While the broader market lost about 0.3% in the twelve months, TASCO Berhad shareholders did even worse, losing 19% (even including dividends). However, it could simply be that the share price has been impacted by broader market jitters. It might be worth keeping an eye on the fundamentals, in case there's a good opportunity. Longer term investors wouldn't be so upset, since they would have made 31%, each year, over five years. If the fundamental data continues to indicate long term sustainable growth, the current sell-off could be an opportunity worth considering. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too. Case in point: We've spotted 1 warning sign for TASCO Berhad you should be aware of. Of course, you might find a fantastic investment by looking elsewhere. So take a peek at this free list of companies we expect will grow earnings. Returns At TASCO Berhad (KLSE:TASCO) Are On The Way Up
To find a multi-bagger stock, what are the underlying trends we should look for in a business? Ideally, a business will show two trends; firstly a growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and secondly, an increasing amount of capital employed. Put simply, these types of businesses are compounding machines, meaning they are continually reinvesting their earnings at ever-higher rates of return. With that in mind, we've noticed some promising trends at TASCO Berhad (KLSE:TASCO) so let's look a bit deeper. Just to clarify if you're unsure, ROCE is a metric for evaluating how much pre-tax income (in percentage terms) a company earns on the capital invested in its business. The formula for this calculation on TASCO Berhad is: Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities) 0.064 = RM62m ÷ (RM1.9b - RM977m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2024). Thus, TASCO Berhad has an ROCE of 6.4%. On its own that's a low return on capital but it's in line with the industry's average returns of 6.3%. Check out our latest analysis for TASCO Berhad Above you can see how the current ROCE for TASCO Berhad compares to its prior returns on capital, but there's only so much you can tell from the past. If you'd like, you can check out the forecasts from the analysts covering TASCO Berhad for free. TASCO Berhad's ROCE growth is quite impressive. More specifically, while the company has kept capital employed relatively flat over the last five years, the ROCE has climbed 62% in that same time. Basically the business is generating higher returns from the same amount of capital and that is proof that there are improvements in the company's efficiencies. On that front, things are looking good so it's worth exploring what management has said about growth plans going forward. For the record though, there was a noticeable increase in the company's current liabilities over the period, so we would attribute some of the ROCE growth to that. Effectively this means that suppliers or short-term creditors are now funding 50% of the business, which is more than it was five years ago. And with current liabilities at those levels, that's pretty high. As discussed above, TASCO Berhad appears to be getting more proficient at generating returns since capital employed has remained flat but earnings (before interest and tax) are up. And with the stock having performed exceptionally well over the last five years, these patterns are being accounted for by investors. Therefore, we think it would be worth your time to check if these trends are going to continue. On a separate note, we've found 1 warning sign for TASCO Berhad you'll probably want to know about.
