He captioned the post: 'This London Marathon was the best executed run of my life so far, setting a PB in the marathon but also in everything over 16km, averaging 4:14 per km for the first three quarters of the race in unusually hot and tricky conditions. He continued: 'A couple of weeks ago I wasn't even going to run this race as I was hobbling around on holiday but deep down I knew I'd regret not rolling the dice… 'There was always a chance that I'd have to pull out in the first few km but I was keen to take the risk and on the day everything held up!! The body is an incredible thing! 'Not in my wildest dreams would I even have been thinking about chasing a sub 3 hour marathon in gorgeous sunny London a few years ago. 'Honestly I couldn't be happier to have taken part and would like to thank you all for the tremendous support,' he added. Many former co-stars and friends shared messages of support on the post, including wife, Vogue Williams and fellow participant, former Union J star Josh Cuthbert, who commented, 'Incredible effort, mate.' Notably absent from the show of support was best friend Jamie Laing, 36, who despite following Spencer on social media, neither liked nor commented on the post. Last month, Jamie completed his own gruelling marathon challenge which saw him run 150 miles over five days to raise more than £2million for Comic Relief. However, many fans noticed that his reality show co-star and self-confessed 'best friend' was absent at the finish line. Jamie Laing and Sophie Habbo targeted by terrifying burglary in the middle of the night Spencer has failed to congratulate him publicly since with Jamie returning the favour this time around. The former reality TV stars have been best pals since joining E4's hit Made in Chelsea show in the second series in 2011. However, a fall-out over Jamie's wedding to Sophie Habboo was publicly aired in 2023, with many left wondering if the row is now flaring once again. While Spencer had attended the pair's June wedding in Spain, he wasn't present at the legal ceremony in London two months prior and was seen on holiday in Portugal with his family instead. When fans expressed their shock that he had chosen to go overseas instead, he used his podcast with wife Vogue to set the record straight, admitting he was "p***ed off". He said: "I'm being hammered for 'snubbing' my best friend's wedding to go on holiday, and then posting about my holiday. "I'm not here to b***h about my best friends but there's been some serious miscommunication from him. He continued: "I just want to set the record straight, more than anything. I'm not here to whinge. "I was not invited to this part of Jamie's wedding, and neither was Vogue." 5 A fall-out over Jamie's wedding to Sophie Habboo was publicly aired in 2023 with many left wondering if the row is now flaring once again Credit: Not known, clear with picture desk 5 Last year Spencer completed 30 marathons in 30 days across the Jordanian desert Credit: Splash

Shane McGuigan chokes back tears in emotional tribute to late sister after London Marathon
Boxer Shane McGuigan, son of Barry McGuigan, was clearly emotional after completing the London Marathon over the weekend, choking back tears when discussing his late sister Danika. Danika, also known as Nika, had made a career for herself as an actress, and passed away in 2019 at the age of 33 after a brief battle with cancer, devasting her loving family. Now, her brother Shane has revealed he ran the marathon in her honour, sharing how he was feeling after crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 3:08:17. Benett/WireImage He told BBC after the race: 'My sister got diagnosed with leukaemia at 11-13, and she got through it, and then she unfortunately passed away with bowel cancer at 33 so yeah… I'm doing it for her.' When asked what his message for people at home is that that might be considering the marathon for a matter close to their heart, he continued: 'Do it? Go and push yourself. I saw a lot of people unfortunately collapsing with dehydration and stuff, so [do it] within your limits. Push yourself, but go and do something. Health and fitness is such a big part of… it should be a big part of people's lives, and you only get one body, get one life. There's lots of people are not able to move so go out there, and move.' Nika's family often remember her throughout the year, with her dad Barry paying tribute to her on her heavenly birthday earlier this year with a sweet social media post. @bbcsport Shane McGuigan ran the London Marathon for a cause close to his heart ❤️ #LondonMarathon #Marathon #Running #ShaneMcGuigan #London ♬ original sound – BBC Sport Sharing a picture of the Can't Cope, Won't Cope star, Barry wrote: 'Happy Heavenly Birthday to our beloved Nika RIP who would have been 39 today. RIP,' one user wrote. 'What a beautiful young woman she was Barry. Always with you in your hearts xx,' another shared. 'What a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to Nika on her heavenly birthday. It's clear how much love you hold for her, and keeping her memory alive in this way is a testament to that bond. Alan Rickman had ‘so much more to offer the world', says wife
Actor Alan Rickman had 'so much more' to offer the world, his wife has said. Harry Potter star Rickman, who portrayed potions master Severus Snape in all eight films in the series, died aged 69 of pancreatic cancer in 2016 – six months after his diagnosis. Rima Horton made the comments by Tower Bridge in central London where almost 800 trainers, representing the number of people who die from the disease each month in the UK, have been laid ahead of the London Marathon. The installation, unveiled by charity Pancreatic Cancer UK on Tuesday morning, is situated near the halfway point for the 26.2-mile race next Sunday. Around 10,500 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK each year, and more than half of them die within three months of their diagnosis. Less than 7 per cent live for five years. Of her work with the charity, Ms Horton said: 'I got involved with Pancreatic Cancer UK because Alan died of pancreatic cancer, and Alan was only 69 and had so much more to offer the world.' She added she 'couldn't bear' the thought of others dying in the way her late husband had. Ms Horton said Rickman's diagnosis was a 'complete shock' to the couple, as the actor had not experienced any 'obvious symptoms'. 'He had a few minor things. I gather, quite a lot of people with pancreatic cancer do have symptoms two years beforehand, they do go to their doctor, but they're so nebulous,' she said. 'And in Alan's case, backache, maybe some stomach problems, but nothing that you would associate with something like pancreatic cancer, so when he was diagnosed, it was a complete shock. I think it knocked us sideways, completely.' Ms Horton said her late husband was not only an 'extraordinary actor' but was 'incredibly kind' and would do anything he could to help others. 'If he could make a phone call, if he could write a letter, if he could put two people in touch with people, he did. 'I know people say to me often when they're in any sort of difficult situation: 'Now, what would Alan do here?' because he did have a reputation of being not just wise, he just had a very good intuition about things and about people which is one of the reasons he was a good actor.' On Monday HBO confirmed that Snape will be played by black actor Paapa Essiedu in the television adaptation of Harry Potter, set to premiere in 2026. Pancreatic Cancer UK recommends anyone experiencing one or more of the most common symptoms - back pain, indigestion, stomach pain and weight-loss - for more than four weeks should contact their GP. Anyone with jaundice – yellowing of the eyes or skin – should immediately go to A&E. There are currently no early detection tests and four out of five people (80 per cent) are not diagnosed until the cancer has spread, meaning life-saving treatment is no longer possible.
