Free agent Cedric Alexander is reportedly a significant person of interest for TNA Wrestling following his departure from WWE earlier this year. A new report from has shed light on the situation. According to the report, there's been a lot of talk about TNA interest in Alexander with some believing he may be starting soon for the company. While the deal is not yet official, the report shareda sense of optimism about the possibility. PWInsider noted that they haven't been able to 100% lock down that he's coming in, but where there's smoke, sometimes there is indeed fire. Many people would agree that Alexander's in-ring talent, he would be a great fit for the current TNA roster. Alexander was released by WWE in February 2025, after a period of being used sparingly on television. His 90-day non-compete clause has since expired, making him free to sign with any promotion. Alexander's WWE journey began memorably with the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic. His performance in the tournament, particularly in a standout match against Kota Ibushi, drew chants of "Please sign Cedric" from the live crowd, ultimately leading to him receiving a WWE contract. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation He went on to become a cornerstone of the 205 Live brand, culminating in him winning the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in a tournament final at WrestleMania 34 in 2018. His most prominent main roster success came as a member of the dominant heel faction, The Hurt Business. Alongside MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin, Alexander thrived, capturing the Raw Tag Team Championship with Benjamin during the group's impressive run. Known for his incredible athleticism and smooth in-ring style honed in promotions like Ring of Honor before his WWE tenure, Alexander is seen by many as a perfect fit for TNA Wrestling's dynamic X-Division or as an immediate contender in their main event scene. There has been a lot of speculation that he would be coming into AEW to join MVP, Lashley and Benjamin as the group now includes MJF. The theory was that MJF would be kicked out by a debuting Alexander. However, that doesn't seem likely now. Regardless, Alexander will be a good fit for any promotion that he signs with. Jordan Spieth Goes Nuclear, Gears Up for Grand Slam at PGA Championship

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Jordan Spieth looked unstoppable Sunday afternoon at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson PGA Tour event. He signed for an impressive bogey-free 9-under 62 to jump 20 spots up the leaderboard and likely finish inside the Top 5. Spieth finished at 19-under overall. Even though Spieth never had a real shot at catching Scottie Scheffler, who is setting PGA Tour records this week, this low round was a victory for Spieth in its own right. It marked his lowest season score, previously a 65 at the WM Phoenix Open and the Cognizant Classic. The 62 was also his best round since 2021, which tied his career low. "I've been stroking it well coming into this week, and I didn't have much go in in Hilton Head," Spieth said. "Statistically, I've been on a really good putting run, and I kind of got in a lull for Hilton Head and even into the first few days here. Luckily, today seemed to get out of it." The former Texas Longhorn made a birdie to start his day at the par-4 1st, and from there, it was like a switch flipped. More Photo byJordan Spieth Putter Catching Fire Spieth noted that the first putt helped him a lot on Sunday. "Honestly, seeing the putt go in the middle on No. 1 was nice," Spieth said after his round on Sunday. "It was only six or seven feet, but it was an uphill right-to-lefter. I was like, 'Wow, okay. I liked how that felt.'" He added three in a row on holes 4-6 and his fifth at the par-5 9th to turn in 31 strokes. Spieth made two more birdies on 11 and 12. Chip-in magic for @JordanSpieth! 💥 The Dallas native is T2 and has the round of the day at -7 thru 12 @CJByronNelson. 📺 Golf Channel — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) May 4, 2025 He added his eighth of the day at the par-4 14th and finished off his round with on 18 to collect nine birdies total. The 13-time PGA Tour winner picked up +2.210 in strokes gained putting. It was not just his birdie putts that were big for him, but also those short ones for par that can sometimes cause him grief. He made over 91 feet in putts on Sunday, and +6.430 in strokes gained total. Spieth had wrist surgery last year, which caused him to miss most of the Fall PGA Tour season. It took the 3-time major champion some time to dust off the rust when he returned from injury, but he is slowly returning to form. "The ultimate goal is consistent play, but it's not bogey avoidance or anything like that," he explained. "I'm not changing strategy. It's just that my mechanics are getting a little bit better each week. I'm able to do sufficient stuff, maybe that I wasn't able to do last year." The Texas native looked like his old self on Sunday, as it seems his game is finally coming around again. It is the perfect time for him to regain prior form. The PGA Championship tees off at Quail Hollow in 11 days. That is the sole major championship Spieth is yet to win. He won the Masters and the U.S. Open in 2015, before capturing the Open Championship in 2017. Rory McIlroy recently became just the sixth golfer ever to win the career Grand Slam. Spieth will look to join that list. If he plays the way he did on Sunday, that is a very real possibility. More Golf: Rory McIlroy Shares Unknown Heartfelt Masters Story with Daughter, Poppy

Three Predictions: SMU, Arch Manning, Mississippi State

Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman has three predictions on SMU getting a top offensive target, Arch Manning's 2026 plans and an SEC program landing a four-star quarterback. The electric back out of Lancaster (Texas) High continues to lean toward the Mustangs, who have gotten the in-state target on campus far and away more than any other contender left in the mix. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH SMU FANS AT ARCH MANNING WILL RETURN TO TEXAS IN 2026 © Brett Davis-Imagn Images Mock drafts for the 2026 NFL Draft are already cluttering everyone's social media timelines. One of the biggest hold-ups in examining a 2026 mock is whether the draft-eligible juniors will or won't declare. For example, Will Campbell elected to return for his senior season and improved his stock as a result. Arch Manning is a popular name tossed around at or near the top of 2026 mock drafts, but there is a strong sense that the Longhorns' starting QB this season remains in Austin beyond his junior season. I know that nothing is locked in this early in the process, but Manning loves Texas and is bracing for his first year as the Longhorns' starter. Texas is a strong championship contender – again – and whether the Longhorns win or come close under Manning, there is already more reason to believe No. 16 will lean toward remaining in school. The four-star QB from Georgia has made multiple visits out to both Bloomington and Starkville since the end of his junior season, including three visits back to Indiana and Mississippi State with two stops at Colorado along the way. The Hoosiers have been pressing for an early commitment, but multiple multi-day stops back at Mississippi State have moved the needle tremendously for this family. McWhorter feels like a culture fit in Starkville – and our expectation is that he pledges to State during his Thursday announcement. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE FANS AT

Liv Morgan Is Stepping Away From WWE

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Liv Morgan, one-half of the reigning WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, is set to step away from the squared circle for a while period to branch off into a new venture. This week's episode of Monday Night Raw featured a backstage interaction where Morgan approached the acting Raw General Manager, Nick Aldis, to request time off, which was granted, to accommodate her commitment to a major film project. The news of Morgan's impending hiatus aligns with earlier reports from On Monday, the wrestling news outlet indicated that a development concerning Morgan was on the horizon and slated for it to be revealed next week. Their latest update confirms the legitimacy of this project, stating that the film, in which Morgan is expected to play a major role, will be officially unveiled to the public next week. However, the exact duration of Morgan's absence from WWE television remains uncertain, leaving fans to speculate on when they might see her back in action. This development arrives at an interesting point in Morgan's WWE career. Currently holding the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship alongside Raquel Rodriguez, this marks their record-setting fourth reign with the coveted titles. Their recent championship journey has been filled with both triumph and adversity. Alex BierensAt WrestleMania 41, Morgan and Rodriguez initially lost the tag team gold to the duo of Becky Lynch and the returning Lyra Valkyria on the second night of the grand event. However, their setback was short-lived. On the very next episode of Raw, Morgan and Rodriguez successfully reclaimed the championships, with Morgan securing the pinfall victory over Valkyria. Looking back further, Morgan's career trajectory in WWE has been linked to a key storyline last year, most notably her deeply personal feud with Rhea Ripley. Following an injury at the hands of Ripley in 2022, Morgan returned with a vengeance at the 2024 Royal Rumble, proclaiming a "Revenge Tour" to stop Ripley's dominance as the queen of the division. This pursuit led her to capture the Women's World Championship from Lynch in May 2024. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation Their animosity culminated in a heated encounter at SummerSlam, where Morgan defeated Ripley, with a surprising assist from Dominik Mysterio, who betrayed Ripley to align himself with Morgan, solidifying Morgan's heel turn. Their rivalry also involved other members of The Judgment Day and the eventual alliance between Morgan and Rodriguez. In early 2025, Ripley managed to reclaim the Women's World Championship from Morgan on Raw. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
