Nearly 2 lakh cases settled across Telangana during six-day Lok Adalat
Hyderabad: A total of 1.87 lakh cases were settled across Telangana during the six-day Lok Adalat. In addition, Rs 53 crore was refunded to victims of cybercrime.
Of the settled cases, 84,601 were e-petty cases and 71,527 were related to Motor Vehicle Act violations.
Of the cases dealt with by Lok Adalat, 32,171 were related to Hyderabad, followed by 21,397 in Rachakonda, according to the office of DGP.
Officials said that Rs 14.54 crore was refunded in 782 cyber cases in Hyderabad. The highest amount was refunded to victims from the Hyderabad commissionerate, followed by Cyberabad with Rs 13.65 crore, and Rachakonda with Rs 9.98 crore. "All the police units in Telangana have performed exceptionally well in the disposal of compoundable cases: 193,000 were disposed of during the current National Lok Adalat held this year, compared to 183,000 during the previous year," police said.
Meanwhile, of Rs 53 crore refund, TG Cyber Security Bureau officials returned Rs 5.74 crore. "The total cyber fraud refunds this year amount to Rs 97.18 crore, benefiting 11,832 victims across Telangana," police said. Since Feb 2024, a total of Rs 281.1 crore has been refunded to 30,478 cybercrime victims.
"The Lok Adalat mechanism is now an institutionalised model that ensures real-time coordination with banks, digital payment service providers and law enforcement units. This streamlines dispute resolution and accelerates financial restitution for UPI fraud, investment scams and digital theft," officials said.
