Texas Longhorns football player arrested, charged with DWI

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Texas Longhorns football player was arrested Sunday by the Austin Police Department, records show. According to an APD affidavit, Nick Brooks, 18, was charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. The affidavit said Brooks, whose legal name is Nicolai, was speeding in the 900 block of W. 6th St. just past 2 a.m. Sunday. When an officer pulled him over and searched him, a gold vape pen with a marijuana leaf inscribed on it and 'think, amber liquid' was found in his right pocket, according to the affidavit. His bond was set at $3,000, and he was released from custody, records show. Brooks is a freshman offensive lineman and was part of the Longhorns' 2025 recruiting class. Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian released this statement regarding Brooks' arrest: We're aware of the situation with Nick Brooks, have talked with him and are gathering information. We will continue to monitor the legal process and address this situation within the team at the appropriate time.
