The festival will celebrate Glasgow's rich musical history, with reggae, trip-hop, hip-hop and electronic beats taking centre stage. Day one kicks off with THREE THE HARDWAY – a rare back-to-back set from DJ Don Letts, Jazzie B, and Daddy G from Massive Attack. Day two will see hip-hop icons THE SUGARHILL GANG take the stage alongside THE FURIOUS FIVE, Huey Morgan, Shaka Loves You, DJ SNAFU and a surprise guest that's yet to announced. The festival runs from 2pm to 10pm on August 23 and 24. Tickets go on sale today at 9am with prices starting at £32.50 for a single day or £59.50 for the full weekend. The East End is already a hub for Glasgow's music scene, with the iconic Barrowlands Ballroom and Saint Luke's, and In the City is all about cementing the area as a new music district. Barrowlands Music Park itself boasts the stunning Album Pathway, a colourful 100-metre-long public artwork created by Glasgow artist Jim Lambie. The installation, commissioned for Glasgow's 2014 Cultural Programme, proudly lists every band that's played the iconic Barrowland Ballroom since 1983. A spokesperson for In the City said: 'This two-day event is more than a music festival, it's a celebration of Glasgow's UNESCO City of Music status and its creative spirit, hosted in the community space of Barrowlands Music Park. TRNSMT stars announce 'biggest show to date' at Glasgow's Hydro 'We're bringing together leading artists and DJs from BBC Radio 6, world music, and hip-hop, while shining a spotlight on homegrown talent straight from the streets of G1. 'This is the largest festival the park has seen, and it's about more than celebration. 'It's about expanding Glasgow's live music scene beyond the dance hall, creating a new music district the city can own and develop.'
