TIDCO invites consultancy bids for Knowledge Tower at Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO) has invited consultancy proposals for the design and execution of a new 'Knowledge Tower,' a flagship infrastructure initiative that will anchor the upcoming Tamil Nadu Knowledge City in Tiruvallur, just north of Chennai. Spread on 12.65-acre within Phase 1 of the Knowledge City project, the proposed tower is envisioned as a hub for high-value knowledge industries, offering built-up space for research institutions, technology firms, and innovation-driven enterprises. TIDCO has been tasked by the government with end-to-end responsibility for its planning and execution, including associated infrastructure. The development is expected to unfold in phases, with the initial stage comprising a minimum built-up area of one lakh square feet. Further expansion will be aligned with emerging demand and long-term strategic goals, suggesting a flexible, demand-responsive approach to growth. The project is being developed in line with a broader master plan and Techno-Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR) for the Tamil Nadu Knowledge City, prepared by CBRE South Asia. The appointed consultant will be required to align their architectural and engineering proposals with these foundational documents to ensure design consistency and adherence to the overall vision for the site. The master plan for the Knowledge City has been completed, and the state government is currently in discussion with several national and international universities to establish campuses in the city. The consultant will be responsible for delivering architectural, engineering, and project management services across the lifecycle of the project. This includes the master planning and conceptual design, detailed architectural and engineering work for the initial phase, preparation of tender documents, and support during procurement. The selected firm will also oversee construction management for the first phase of the tower. The focus is on developing public plazas, ramps, open areas, bus shelters, common parking spaces, vehicular drop-offs, and other elements which will be developed or proposed in Phase 1. A pre-bid meeting will be held on June 11 and the last date for proposals is July 4.

Concrete steps emphasised towards building ‘Vikasit Anakapalli district'
Anakapalli: Anakapalli district could not achieve the targets set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Jal Jeevan Mission was carried out during 2019-24 without long-term water resources, pointed out chairman of the Twenty Points Programme Implementation Lanka Dinakar. However, he raised doubts about the quality of the works completed. 'The activities carried out in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Vikasita Bharat 2047' and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's vision of 'Swarnandhra 2047' will be carried out by the officials here with an aim of overcoming the current challenges in the district and transforming it as 'VikasitAnakapalle district',' he stated. Speaking about the TIDCO houses, the officials informed that of the 6,184 houses allotted, a total of 3,688 houses have been completed, while loans have been sanctioned to 1,784 beneficiaries. Further, they added that 2,146 beneficiary families are residing in the total houses completed so far and Rs.38.27 crore will be required to complete the rest of the 2,496 houses. For tourism development in the district, Lanka Dinakar mentioned that there are Buddhist houses and stupas in Bojjanna Konda that can attract Buddhist monks from all over the world. 'There are famous Hindu temples and beaches that attract international and national tourists, and reservoirs that attract local tourists. There is a good scope to increase tourist footfall, especially by way of promoting the Etikoppaka toys. Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned these dolls and our state's statue made in Etikoppaka in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day have to be brought to the limelight,' the chairman of the Twenty Points Programme Implementation emphasised. 45 two-wheelers recovered during C&SO
Nellore: Cops headed by Additional Superintendent of Police CH. Soujanya conducted Cardon and Search operations at TIDCO housing area in Bhagat Sing Nagar of Nellore city and recovered 45 motorcycles without proper documents in the wee hours of Thursday. Vizag metro works to start in October: Andhra Pradesh urban development minister
VISAKHAPATNAM : The state govt is taking measures to launch the Vizag metro works in October, said municipal administration and urban development minister P Narayana. The minister conducted a review meeting with ministers, MLAs, and officials of north coastal Andhra Pradesh districts here at the VMRDA office on Wednesday. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Narayana said that a detailed project report (DPR) for Vizag metro project has been submitted for a double-decker model. "Just as Hyderabad has a ring road to support its population of over one crore, similar plans are being prepared to construct a semi-ring road in Visakhapatnam. Bhogapuram airport would be completed by next year. To avoid congestion and ensure smooth transport facilities to the airport, 22 roads have been proposed for connectivity. Of these, 15 have already received govt approval, while plans are currently being drawn up for the remaining roads. "Regarding TIDCO housing, between 2014 and 2019, seven lakh houses were proposed, but the previous govt failed to complete even two lakh of them. About Rs 7,000 crore would be required to complete the TIDCO housing project and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed to providing these homes to women beneficiaries, regardless of the cost. The houses would be handed over to beneficiaries by the upcoming Dasara festival," added the minister. Speaking on the AMRUT scheme (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation), the minister noted that in 2021, the Union govt allocated funds to provide drinking water to every household. "However, due to the previous govt's failure to provide the required matching grant, the funds were returned. Chief minister N Chandrababu subsequently negotiated with the Centre to secure the reallocation of these funds. Projects worth Rs 834 crore are now being undertaken under the AMRUT scheme, and surface water supply will be made available in the coming months," said Narayana. During the meeting, the minister also discussed a range of urban development initiatives, including VMRDA infrastructure; Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region Urban Development Authority; revisions to the VMRDA master plan 2041; key issues in extended areas; the status of the KPCPIR UDA master plan 2041; middle income group layouts; proposed new VMRDA layouts; priority roads in the master plan; coastal erosion mitigation projects; comprehensive development of Kailasagiri and Rushikonda; and the implementation of a 4/6/8-lane axis semi-ring road from Bhogapuram to Rambilli through value capture finance. Several MLAs raised concerns during the meeting, urging the minister to ensure the completion of GVMC water pipeline works to avoid drinking water shortages, to install additional water tanks, and to provide more waste collection vehicles and pushcarts in the hilly area due to current sanitation challenges. They also requested that land deeds collected from the poor in 2014 for housing plots be honoured and land allocated accordingly. Furthermore, the MLAs appealed to the minister to support development programmes aimed at delivering basic amenities to the people of north coastal AP.
