AJ Francis Makes First WWE NXT Appearance In Four Years
TNA stars AJ Francis and KC Navarro attacked Mike Santana on WWE NXT. Last week on TNA Impact, First Class' AJ Francis and KC Navarro lost a four-way match to determine the number one contenders for the TNA Tag Team Titles. Following the loss, Francis and Navarro were attacked backstage by Mike Santana. Advertisement With Mike Santana attacking Francis and Navarro, it was inevitable that revenge was coming. That payback arrived at the worst possible time for Santana. It came during his main event match on WWE NXT against Trick Williams for the TNA World title. Mike Santana, who vowed to bring the championship back to TNA, faced a tough fight. In the match of climax, Elijah, the next challenger for the TNA World title, was sitting in the crowd. Trick Williams spotted him, grabbed a guitar, and smashed it in front of him. Furious with his guitar broken, Elijah jumped the barricade, causing a distraction. While the referee tried to separate Elijah and Trick, Mike Santana was blindsided by Francis and Navarro. Francis grabbed Santana and slammed him onto the table before throwing him back into the ring. Trick Williams then took advantage, hitting a Trick Shot to the back of Santana's neck, followed by a second one to his face to secure the win. Advertisement This is Francis' first appearance in NXT since he was under WWE contract as Top Dolla, part of the Hit Row stable. He is now under contract with TNA. Alexander shocked fans by appearing tonight at Dynamite to face off against 'Hangman' Adam Page. in the Men's Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Unfortunately for Alexander, he couldn't celebrate his debut with a win. Page scored the win with a flash inside cradle, but Alexander got the last laugh. After the match, Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis came out to begin causing trouble. Fletcher and Page got into it, and Callis spoke to Alexander, who then attacked Page from behind. Advertisement Alexander has been wrestling since 2005, and has the distinction of being the longest reigning TNA World Champion in its history (335 days). The superstar had been wrestling for a variety of programs over the past few years, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling. TNA Wrestling logo NEW 2024 TNA is switching things up a bit with a new championship. TNA Wrestling has been one of the more popular wrestling shows for a while now. Now, the promotion has introduced a brand new championship. During the latest set of tapings, TNA Wrestling's Director of Authority Santino Marella revealed that a brand new championship will be introduced at the upcoming TNA Pay-per-view Unbreakable. spoiler alert During the most recent set of TNA Impact tapings, the Director of Authority Santino Marella stripped Steph De Lander of the TNA Digital Media Championship. Advertisement Following that, Marella also announced that a new championship would be introduced in TNA. The new champion will be crowned at TNA Unbreakable. The new championship is the brand new TNA International Championship. The inaugural champion will be crowned via a tournament. Each match in the tournament will be a three-way match. Despite the new title being announced after Santino stripped Steph De Lander of her Digital Media Championship, it is unclear if the International Championship will replace the Digital Media Championship or have a new lineage. The TNA Digital Media Championship (then Impact Wrestling Digital Media Championship) was introduced at TNA Bound For Glory in 2021. Jordynne Grace was the inaugural champion, and there were 12 total champions in all, including De Lander. Joe Hendry had the longest reign at 266 days, while Laredo Kid had the shortest at 29.
