Jamie Theakston praises Amanda Holden for 'key role' after cancer diagnosis
Heart Radio Breakfast star Jamie Theakston praised Amanda Holden for her 'fantastic' support amid his battle with laryngeal cancer, detailing their close friendship Jamie Theakston says Amanda Holden has been a 'key part' of his recovery following a battle with stage one laryngeal cancer, which he was given the all clear for in January. The Heart Breakfast presenter, 54, scooped up a TRIC Award for his morning radio show with Amanda on Tuesday, and told Mirror at the ceremony: "Amanda has been fantastic, she's been a part of my recovery. So, yeah, it has brought us closer as friends." Jamie was diagnosed with stage one laryngeal cancer back in September 2024 after listeners noticed a difference in his voice - initially putting it down to a mere sore throat. The broadcaster has since undergone three surgeries and revealed in January that he was cancer free. And giving an update on how he's feeling now, five months after getting the all clear and returning to work, Jamie said: "I'm feeling great, my family are all really great too." Jamie shares children Sidney, 17, and Kit, 16, with his wife of almost two decades Sophie Siegle, with the presenter admitting that his family are all 'relieved' and happy to have him back in healthy form. He has even been left with some life lessons, leaving the health battle with a new outlook, admitted Jamie. "The whole experience has made me worry less in general, that's what it has taught me." While Jamie and Amanda may be tight-knit friends, he revealed that the early morning wake up calls don't always have them on the right side of the bed. "We can be moody sometimes," he laughed. "But we just argue it out on air and then it's fine!" Jamie and Amanda beat out stars such as Rylan for his Saturday BBC Radio 2 show and Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby for their Capital Breakfast Show at the TRIC Awards. Taking to the stage to accept the award during the London ceremony, Jamie got emotional as he admitted the award was extra special. "There has been times in the past 12 months where I haven't known where I was gonna be never mind on this stage so I really appreciate it," he said on stage. Talking backstage afterwards, he added: "I'm made up, I don't normally win awards and it's really, really nice "I personally celebrate my 20th year [on Heart] this year - I was only meant to do two! So I don't quite understand how that happened, but, no, I love it, I love going in every day. It's a great job. Here's to twenty more."

Rylan Clark sparks tension with BBC Radio 2 co-star after cheeky on-air dig
The host of Rylan On Saturday tried to calm the air during a recent episode, in which his tongue-in-cheek assessment of BBC co-star Sally Boazman's reporting did not leave her impressed Rylan Clark's colleague was quick to clap back at the former X Factor contestant after he cheekily poked fun at her during a live broadcast. On his recent BBC Radio 2 programme, Rylan On Saturday, the presenter engaged in a bit of banter with Sally Boazman, also known as 'Sally Traffic', who regularly delivers traffic updates on the show. The lively repartee occurred about an hour into the show when, following one of Sally's bulletins, Rylan commented that it sounded more "calm and collected", leading her to question his opinion on her other reports. Rylan remarked: "Well, that was a lot more calm and collected, that one," which made Sally inquire: "Than what?" He playfully answered: "Than, like, earlier." When Sally probed: "Was I rubbish?" Rylan quipped: "You wasn't rubbish, but you didn't have a clue what you were going on about." Listeners then heard Rylan's hearty laughter as Sally threw a sarcastic dig back, saying it's "lovely" working alongside him. Trying to smooth things over, Rylan suggested maybe they should throw a "Saturday party", to which Sally shot back: "Don't change the subject!" Nonetheless, Rylan steered the conversation towards different matters such as tripping over his shoe lace, seemingly evading the initial topic. What ensued was a rather amusing moment where Sally removed the lace from Rylan's shoe, an incident he dubbed "riveting listening", before they shared a laugh about their radio show being in the running for a TRIC Award this year. The duo is no stranger to on-air banter. In February, they had a light-hearted tiff about their romantic escapades. Sally probed Rylan about whether he'd "found love yet". After he confirmed his single status, Rylan flipped the question to Sally. She pressed on, asking if he was "still looking". He admitted he was and bounced the question back to her. Her answer was a coy "No... ish", which led Rylan to check if she was alright, only to be met with a quick "Don't go there!" Shifting gears, Sally suggested Rylan might consider getting a dog, but he clarified that it's "not what I'm looking for". He elaborated: "You can give love to a dog, but I'm looking for a different type of love. You can't sit there and ask me if I've found love and then... have you found a man?" Sally kept tight-lipped, refusing to spill any personal details on the show. Since his split from ex-husband Dan Neal in 2021, Rylan's romantic life has been the subject of much public conjecture, including whispers of a potential spark with his co-star Rob Rinder from Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour. Despite swirling speculation, Rylan has previously put the rumours to bed, confirming that their relationship is purely platonic. He also expressed to The Sunday Times how they "love each other" in a non-romantic sense.
