Yoga a solution for age-related ailments
Rajamahendravaram: As part of the month-long Yogandhra-2025 campaign, a special yoga session was conducted for senior citizens on Sunday marking the 14th day of the state-wide initiative. The event noted the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and spiritual growth among the elderly.
Speaking on the occasion, District Revenue Officer (DRO) T Sitarama Murthy said that yoga is a powerful tool that helps reduce anxiety, relieve stress, and bring mental calm, especially in old age. He pointed out that the daily practice of yoga could prevent many age-related ailments and even help address some health issues that do not respond to conventional medication.
Yoga Guru Shiva explained key techniques of yogic practices to the senior participants, including Brahma Sadhana, Dhyana Dharana (concentration techniques), mantra chanting, and meditation. Women from the Brahma Kumaris organisation also shared their spiritual perspectives on yoga and how it can aid inner peace and self-realisation.
Several officials and experts participated in the event, including Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department T Tilak Kumar, District Agriculture Officer S Madhava Rao, AYUSH doctors Dr K CH Ramesh, and AYUSH Nodal Officer P Kezia.
The event witnessed active involvement from elderly citizens who appreciated the initiative for their well-being.
