Sergio Perez provides big update on possible return to F1 in 2026
Sergio Perez and Red Bull Racing parted ways after the 2024 Formula 1 season, and while the organization has already replaced his successor after two races, he is looking toward a potential return to Formula 1 soon. On Tuesday, Perez spoke to and provided an update on his possible return to the sport in 2026.
The 35-year-old driver is in a similar position as former Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo, but he may have more options available right now.
"If I find a project that motivates me fully to come back, where the team believes in me and where they appreciate my career, my experience, and everything I can bring to a team, it would be very attractive to consider it,' Perez said to "That's why I've given myself at least six months to get all my options on the table and make a decision on what I do next with my career. There are a few very interesting projects out there. I've been approached by a few teams since Abu Dhabi. Right now, the season has started, so a few things will open up in the coming months."
It's unclear which F1 teams are talking to Perez at this moment, but it's not surprising that he is being pursued. Before the eventual decerrase in performance at Red Bull, Perez showed promise next to Max Verstappen. Now, with the 2025 Formula 1 season underway, Perez is waiting for 2026, hoping the right opportunity presents itself.
