Loke: Airlines must take precautionary measures if certain airspaces are risky
SEPANG: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has confirmed that several flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) were cancelled after some Gulf nations closed their airspaces following an Iranian strike on a United States military base in Qatar. "There were indeed several affected flights, and I was informed that a Batik Air flight to Dubai had to turn back when it reached the Indian Ocean due to the airspace closure. "Affected airlines must implement mitigation measures such as providing accommodation and other necessary arrangements for passengers while waiting for the airspace to reopen," he told reporters after the launch of the Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2025 exhibition and conference. Also present were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah and the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan. Loke said the sudden airspace closure had not only affected local flights but also impacted foreign carriers, with a Notice to Airmen already issued. "Our position is that airlines must take precautionary steps if there are any risks. "If the airspace is closed, flights to the affected area cannot proceed and must either be turned back or cancelled," he said. Earlier, it was reported that at least 61 pilgrims were stranded for more than four hours at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after their flight to Jeddah was cancelled at the last minute.

MOT launches TXA 2025 expo for transport & logistics sector
SEPANG: The Ministry of Transport (MOT) will host the inaugural Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2025 from November 11 to 13, marking a milestone for Malaysia's transport and logistics sector. The event aims to foster collaboration among policymakers, industry experts, and tech innovators to drive sustainable mobility and trade. Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted TXA 2025 as a strategic platform to advance greener transport solutions. 'This expo will shape a more sustainable future for Malaysia's transport infrastructure and trade networks,' he said during the launch at Sama-Sama Hotel. Unlike the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), which focuses on defence, TXA 2025 will spotlight transport and logistics. The Cabinet approved the event to complement LIMA, with TXA 2026 slated for Q3 next year. Key highlights include the 2025 Road Safety Congress, an annual initiative to enhance road safety awareness. Over 80 exhibitors from smart logistics, automation, and digital cold chains will participate, alongside 3,000 trade visitors, including ASEAN delegates. Themed *'Future On The Move: Digital, Sustainable Transport, Agile Logistics & ESG-Driven Supply Chains,'* TXA 2025 underscores Malaysia's regional leadership in transport innovation.

MOT To Hold TXA 2025 As Platform For Industry Players In Transport, Logistics
GENERAL SEPANG, June 24 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Transport (MOT) will for the first time organise the Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2025 from Nov 11 to 13, as a platform to bring together industry players in the transport and logistics sector. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the organisation of TXA 2025 strengthens Malaysia's role as a regional leader in the competitive transport and logistics sector. He said it brings together policymakers, industry players, academics and technology providers to shape a smarter and more sustainable future of mobility and trade. "TXA 2025 is a platform for us to discuss and also shape a more sustainable and greener future for our country's transport facilities and trade," he said in a press conference after launching TXA 2025 here today. Loke said TXA is an additional event to the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) but it focuses on industry players in the transport sector. He said the Cabinet had allowed the Transport Ministry to organise another event because LIMA would focus on defence while TXA would focus on transport and logistics. 'This year, MOT will not be the organiser of LIMA. TXA 2025 will be the inaugural edition of the biennial TXA series, with TXA 2026 planned for the third quarter of next year,' he said, adding that the location of the event would be determined later. He said among the important programmes organised with TXA 2025 was the 2025 Road Safety Congress, which would continue in the 2026 edition as an official annual event. 'This congress is being held to raise awareness and cooperation in strengthening road safety in Malaysia,' he said.
