Petroleum Min. Inspects Idku LNG Complex

Taarek Refaat Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum conducted an inspection tour of the Idku LNG complex on the Mediterranean coast. The minister was accompanied by officials from the Ministry and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), as well as officials from Shell and Petronas, the complex's partners. During the tour, the Minister emphasized that the Idku complex is one of the cornerstones of Egypt's oil and gas infrastructure, enhancing Egypt's role as a regional hub for energy trading and receiving. He explained that the complex represents a successful model for maximizing the added value of assets and infrastructure, in line with the second axis of the Ministry's work strategy, which aims to maximize the benefit from existing infrastructure and achieve maximum economic returns for Egypt and its partners. Badawi indicated continued cooperation with investment partners in the petroleum sector to increase production rates by accelerating the implementation of field development plans and exploration and research operations, contributing to enhancing local production and meeting market needs. During the tour, Mohamed El Bahnasy, Chairman of the Egyptian LNG Company, and the team gave a presentation on the complex's capabilities and advanced infrastructure, which serve the strategy of enhancing Egypt's role as a regional hub for receiving, trading, and trading energy. He indicated that studies are underway to add regasification facilities to receive LNG imports, convert them to a gaseous state, and pump them into the national grid. Petroleum Min. Discusses with Chinese Leading Company Investment Opportunities in Mining Sector

Taarek Refaat Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources received a delegation from the Chinese Shimei Holding Company, a leading Chinese private sector mining company, headed by Liguao Wu, founder of Ximai Group to discuss possible investment opportunities in the Egyptian mining sector. The Minister emphasized the Ministry's aspiration to establish a strong partnership with the company in the mining sector, which the state attaches special importance to and is working to develop through reform programs and measures to facilitate investment and increase competitiveness. On their part, company officials expressed their strong interest in investing in Egypt and their enthusiasm for investing in the mining sector. Egypt's Petroleum Min. Participates in 11th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue

Taarek Refaat Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources participated in the 11th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue on March 18 and 19. The dialogue aims to discuss topics related to the changing energy landscape and the transition to clean and renewable energy sources. The current session focuses on mobilizing investments for energy transition and green growth in emerging and developing countries. Badawi reviewed Egypt's comprehensive energy strategy, emphasizing the importance of diversifying energy sources to ensure energy security, sustainability, and economic growth. He also emphasized the importance of natural gas as the most suitable transition fuel with the lowest emissions. Regarding efforts to expand renewable energy, Engineer Karim Badawi indicated that Egypt seeks to strengthen its position as a regional energy hub, leveraging its abundant solar, wind, and other clean energy resources. He pointed out the successful completion of the Integrated and Sustainable Energy Strategy until 2040, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy in Egypt's energy mix to 42% by 2030 through the implementation of several projects, such as solar energy projects and wind power plants in the Gulf of Suez region. He also stated that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is working at the national level, in cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt, to develop an integrated energy efficiency strategy and launch a national program that includes various energy efficiency activities. He pointed out that Egypt aims to become a regional center for hydrogen trade and circulation, in light of the formulation of an ambitious national strategy to attract investment and develop pioneering projects in the field of hydrogen generation and production. This was followed by the approval of a new law that provides tax and export incentives to attract investors in this sector.
