An Air India flight heading to London crashed in a crowded area near Meghaninagar in Ahmedabad on Thursday, just minutes after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport . The incident took place around 1:40 pm. As per a TOI report quoting data from the flight-tracking platform Flightradar24, Flight AI171, bound for London Gatwick , lost signal at a very low altitude of just 625 feet, less than a minute after takeoff. The plane reportedly crashed into a residential area, sparking a massive fire and creating panic among residents. Fire officer Jayesh Khadia confirmed that several fire engines were sent quickly to control the blaze. Emergency teams, including the police, fire brigade, and ambulances, started rescue and evacuation work without delay. Live Events Air India posted an update on X (formerly Twitter), saying: 'Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad–London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025.
