As per a TOI report quoting data from the flight-tracking platform Flightradar24, Flight AI171, bound for
London Gatwick
, lost signal at a very low altitude of just 625 feet, less than a minute after takeoff.
The plane reportedly crashed into a residential area, sparking a massive fire and creating panic among residents. Thick black smoke could be seen rising from the area.

Fire officer Jayesh Khadia confirmed that several fire engines were sent quickly to control the blaze. Emergency teams, including the police, fire brigade, and ambulances, started rescue and evacuation work without delay.

Air India posted an update on X (formerly Twitter), saying: 'Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad–London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on our website and our X handle.'
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other top officials, promising full support from the central government to manage the crisis.
