Late rally ends Warren JFK's season in Regional Championship
OBERLIN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Warren JFK baseball team saw their season come to an end in the Regional Semifinals for the third consecutive year, with a 4-3 loss to Tiffin Calvert on Thursday.
The Eagles started the scoring in the first inning at Oberlin College. Seniors Michael Bartoe and Taggart Carfangia both knocked in runs to help give Kennedy an early 3-0 advantage.
The Senecas responded in the sixth with three runs of their own. Juniors Connor and Cameron Moyer had back-to-back RBI singles in the frame to tie the game at 3.
Calvert senior Blake Coleman scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on a RBI single from junior AJ Shoemaker to help clinch the victory.
The Senecas will now advance to play the winner of South Webster and Newark Catholic in the Division VII State Semifinals next Thursday at 1 p.m. at Canal Park in Akron.
Warren JFK, who has played in the Regionals each of the last five years, finishes the season with an 18-9 overall record.
