Vadodara gears up for ‘A Tribute to the Nation'
Vadodara: Tagore Foundation Vadodara (TFV), a charitable, academic, cultural and social organization, in collaboration with MS University's Faculty of Performing Arts and the district sainik welfare and resettlement office, will host a literary and cultural event titled "A Tribute to the Nation" on Saturday.
The venue is the Sir M Visvesvaraya Auditorium of MSU's Faculty of Technology and Engineering, and the programme is designed as an homage to the spirit of the nation. The evening will feature a vibrant blend of patriotic songs, multilingual recitations (in English, Bengali and Hindi) and dance performances by local artists.
"The musical selections draw primarily from the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore's compositions," said Professor Debal Dasgupta, chairman of TFV and former head of the Russian and French Studies department at MSU's Faculty of Arts.
"We are also including works by the fiery poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, along with songs by Dwijendralal Roy, Atulprasad Sen and more contemporary pieces by the legendary Salil Chowdhury."
Professor Dasgupta added, "This tribute comes at a watershed moment for our nation, as we face multiple challenges on the social and global fronts. Through these songs and performances, we aim to inspire hope, resilience and a renewed sense of national pride."
