Libya Promotes Balanced Partnerships in Africa–Europe Dialogue

Iraq and Libya Stress the Need to Unify Efforts to Support Stability and Security in the Region
Baghdad - INA The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, stressed on Wednesday the need to unify efforts to support stability and enhance security in the region. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, met with Taher Al-Baour, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity, in the capital, Tripoli." The statement added that "the meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and discussed issues of common interest, which would contribute to developing cooperation in various fields. The importance of continuing diplomatic consultation and coordination between the two sides on regional and international issues and enhancing the exchange of expertise between relevant institutions in both countries was also emphasized." The statement continued, "The two sides discussed mechanisms to support the Iraqi community in Libya and ways to facilitate consular procedures for them, ensuring the provision of necessary services more efficiently." The statement indicated that "the two sides discussed efforts to activate joint committees between the two countries and work to sign memoranda of understanding in various fields, which would enhance bilateral cooperation and achieve common interests." The statement concluded, "The two sides stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination on regional and international issues, and the need to unify efforts to support stability and enhance security in the region, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries."
