New Taiwanese breakfast in CBD from S$3.90: Egg crepes, rice dumplings & more

Snuggled between the eateries along Amoy Street is the newly opened Shang Hao Kopi Taiwanese Breakfast Shop, serving up Taiwanese breakfast staples with a local twist. Their Classic Taiwanese Egg Crepe Roll (S$3.90) features a pan-fried egg wrapped in a chewy crepe — an essential dish that dictates the Taiwanese breakfast. Find interesting flavours such as (S$4.90) and Ham & Cheese (S$5.90) for a spin on this classic dish. When I'm in Taiwan, the Traditional Taiwanese Rice Dumpling (S$3.90) is my go-to breakfast, and I'm stoked to find a place that now sells it in Singapore! Filled with crispy you tiao and egg, this glutinous rice ball also comes in additional Chicken Floss (S$4.90) and Grilled Pork (S$5.90) variations too. CBD friends, look no further for a value-for-money lunch as Shang Hao Kopi prides itself on its Traditional Taiwan Railway , a spin on the railway bento meals distributed in Taiwan. Available from 11am onwards, the bento options include Braised Pork Belly Rice, Grilled Pork Chop Rice, and Grilled Chicken Leg Rice, which are all affordably priced at just S$7.90. If rice isn't your thing, try out their Night Market Hot Plate Noodle (from S$3.90) or Cold/Hot Soba (from S$3.90)! What better drink than a velvety soya milk to wash all the grease down? On top of their house-made Classic Soya Milk (Hot S$1.80, Cold S$2.20), look out for their Soya (Hot S$2, Cold S$2.40) and Soya Milo (Hot S$2.40, Cold S$2.80) that boast a local twist. In addition to serving affordable Taiwanese fare, this restaurant has an exclusive Membership Subscription Plan, created with CBD office workers in mind. For just S$50, you can redeem 100 breakfast vouchers! Each voucher can be redeemed for one breakfast item worth S$3.90 with a drink purchase. It is redeemable only on weekdays and is valid for 6 months. Want to savour a taste of Taiwan without breaking the bank? Shang Hao Kopi is the place to be.
