The 40-year-old former UFC title challenger is coming off a May 2024 knockout win over Rodrigo Nascimento. Lewis, who owns the record for most knockouts in UFC history with 15, is 2-4 in his past six trips to the Octagon dating back to February 2022. Lewis has been with the UFC since 2014. He also has the UFC record for most finishes in the heavyweight division with 15. No active UFC heavyweight has as many fights in the Octagon as Lewis does at 29. The 25-year-old made his official UFC debut in February 2025, scoring a first-round knockout, and a 'Performance of the Night' bonus in a win over Justin Tafa. The UFC is wasting no time in throwing Teixeira into the deep end of the heavyweight pool, giving him a veteran opponent in a main event contest. All eight of Teixeira's career wins have come via first-round stoppage (seven knockouts, on submission). He has been a pro since 2021. He is ranked No. 14 in the UFC's heavyweight weight class. Unbeaten Tallison Teixeira, Derrick Lewis headline UFC Nashville
May 28 - Fourteenth-ranked contender Tallison Teixeira will put his undefeated record on the line when he faces ninth-ranked Derrick Lewis in a heavyweight bout at UFC Nashville on July 12. Teixeira (8-0) has yet to be extended past the first round in any of his bouts. The 25-year-old Brazilian looks to make short work of Lewis (28-12, 1 NC, 15 knockouts) at Bridgestone Arena. Lewis, 40, is the UFC's all-time leader in knockout wins -- two more than the retired Frank Mir. The Houston native last fought in May 2024, stopping Rodrigo Nascimento 49 seconds into the third round of their UFC Fight Night heavyweight match in St. Louis. UFC also announced the following bouts for the UFC Fight Night card in Tennessee: Vitor Petrino (11-2) is slated to make his heavyweight debut versus Austen Lane (13-6, 1NC). Light heavyweight contender Junior Tafa (6-3) takes on Tuco Tokkos (10-5). Featherweight contender Calvin Kattar (23-9) takes on Steve Garcia (17-5). Welterweight contender Jake Matthews (21-7) squares off against Chidi Njokuani (25-10, 1NC), while fellow welterweight Max Griffin (20-11) will face Chris Curtis (31-12, 1NC). Derrick Lewis set for UFC Fight Night main event vs. rising Tallison Teixeira A literally big UFC main event is coming this summer. Heavyweight star Derrick Lewis will headline a UFC Fight Night opposite promotional sophomore Tallison Teixeira. The event is expected to take place July 12 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Two people with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the UFC has yet to make an official announcement. Lewis (28-12 MMA, 19-10 UFC) has not competed since May 2024 when he defeated Rodrigo Nascimento by third-round TKO (and then proceeded to moon the crowd). The win was Lewis' second in three fights. He was then booked to fight in November vs. Jhonata Diniz but withdrew on fight day due to illness. Tallison (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made a statement in his UFC debut when he quickly disposed of Justin Tafa with a 35-second TKO.
