Ex-Mumbai Indians Star joins Punjab Kings As Net Bowler Ahead Of Clash Against KKR
Mumbai all-rounder Tanush Kotian, who went unsold in the IPL auction earlier this year, on Friday joined Punjab Kings as net bowler midway through the ongoing season. The 26-year-old was seen bowling to PBKS batters at the nets and spending considerable time in conversation with spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi during the team's training session on the eve of their match against Kolkata Knight Riders. While Punjab Kings have Yuzvendra Chahal as their premier spin weapon, they also have good option in Harpreet Brar and Praveen Dubey -- both leg-spinners with similar styles. To add variety to their preparation, especially with opponents like Kolkata Knight Riders fielding mystery spinners such as Sunil Narine and an in-form Varun Chakravarthy, the addition of Kotian's orthodox off-spin brings a different dimension to their net sessions. Kotian, who played a vital role in Mumbai's Syed Mushtaq Ali triumph this season, has been a consistent performer on the domestic circuit. Though he didn't find a buyer at the auction, his inclusion as a net bowler by Punjab Kings reflects the increasing reliance on proven domestic players to strengthen training groups as the tournament will soon enter its business end. Skipper Shreyas Iyer's Mumbai connection is believed to have played a part in Kotian's entry into the PBKS setup. Having led KKR to the IPL title in 2024, Iyer is someone who knows the team inside out. Kotian joined the team at their hotel on Thursday and wasted no time getting into the mix, providing PBKS batters with some challenging overs in the nets. Listen to the latest songs, only on

IPL 2025: Punjab Kings rope in Mumbai's all-rounder Tanush Kotian before clash against KKR
Tanush Kotian. New Delhi: After going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, Mumbai all-rounder Tanush Kotian has joined the Punjab Kings as a net bowler. He joined the team mid-season. A 26-year-old player participated in Punjab Kings' practice session before their game against Kolkata Knight Riders. He bowled to the team's batters and conferred extensively with spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi. Although Punjab Kings already have a strong spin bowling contingent including Yuzvendra Chahal, they also have other capable leg-spinners in Harpreet Brar and Praveen Dubey. The team incorporated orthodox off-spin bowling into their practice drills to better prepare for facing unorthodox bowlers from teams such as the Kolkata Knight Riders, specifically players like Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. This added variety to their net sessions. Mumbai's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy victory this season was significantly aided by Tanush Kotian's strong performance. His consistent batting and bowling contributions have established him as a notable player in Indian domestic cricket. Shreyas Iyer's Mumbai connections likely influenced the Punjab Kings' decision to recruit bowling coach, Mr. Kotian. Iyer's IPL experience and familiarity with Kotian's abilities likely contributed to this hiring. Kotian joined the team Thursday, immediately participating in net practice sessions by bowling to the Punjab Kings batsmen. Punjab Kings' current IPL 2025 standings show five wins from eight matches, placing them fifth overall.
