‘Don't sell pity': Taiwan singer recalls mother of disabled son who rejected his help

The renowned Taiwan singer-songwriter and actor Kenji Wu has launched a charity campaign on mainland social media, offering free popcorn to customers at a small food stall to help a young boy with cerebral palsy. Recently, he has been touring cities across China with his concerts. The story unfolded when, during a visit to Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province, in southeastern China, Wu visited the boy's stall and documented their interaction. The 18-year-old, Taotao, born in Zhejiang province, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy due to oxygen deprivation at birth. El Paso Police seek help in hit-and-run crash that left 1 seriously hurt

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department is asking for your help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning, April 12, in Central El Paso that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries. As we've previously reported, the crash happened around 2 a.m. on April 12 at the 900 block of North Piedras, near the Five Points area. 1 person seriously hurt in crash in Central El Paso The preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old man, driving a motorized scooter or motorcycle, was traveling south on Piedras and was going to make a turn onto Tularosa, according to El Paso Police. Police only identified the vehicle as a red 2017 Taotao. At the same time, a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan was traveling north on Piedras and collided with the man on the Taotao, police said. According to El Paso Police, the man was thrown from the bike and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet sedan fled the scene, police said. According to police, the sedan should have notable damage to the front of the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the non-emergency line at (915) 832-4400 or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-8477 to remain anonymous. HUDSON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Hudson man was killed Thursday afternoon after being struck by a car while riding a moped in southern Caldwell County. According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. Feb. 28 on Cajah Mountain Road near Stamey Road. Troopers say a 2005 Kia Spectra traveling east on Cajah Mountain failed to reduce speed adequately and collided with a 2021 Taotao moped, which had slowed down to turn right onto Stamey. Hicks was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed. Cajah Mountain Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation.
