SacRT introduces contactless fare payment system
( — The Sacramento Regional Transit District announced the upcoming launch of their three-phase contactless fare payment system, Tap2Ride, for all buses and SacRT GO paratransit service vehicles.

Tap2Ride launches on April 1, eliminating the need for cash or paper tickets as riders can use debit cards, credit cards or mobile wallets to pay for their fare when boarding, said SacRT.
'SacRT is committed to making transit easier and more accessible for everyone,' said Henry Li,SacRT General Manager and CEO. 'Tap2Ride is a major step forward in modernizing our fare payment system, giving riders the speed and convenience they expect while improving efficiency across our network.'

Cash and other forms of payment will continue to be accepted.
SacRT highlighted the three phases as:
Phase 1: Contactless payment will be available for SacRT vehicles but transfer benefits between bus and light rail will not be available.
Phase 2: In late 2025, Tap2Ride will allow riders to transfer seamlessly between buses and light rail using the same contactless payment method.
Phase 3: Eligible riders can receive a 50% discount on basic fares through Tap2Ride.
