Samsung's new useful Tap to Transfer feature starts rolling out today
Earlier this month we told you that Samsung was going to bring a feature called Tap to Transfer to Galaxy users in the U.S. Today, Samsung announced that Tap to Transfer is now rolling out. This allows a Samsung Galaxy user to send money to the bank account of a friend or family member associated with a debit card in their digital wallet that has been issued by Mastercard or Visa. If your friend or family member uses Samsung Wallet, Apple Wallet, or Google Wallet, Tap to Transfer will send the money to the recipient without you having to install a third-party payment app. With NFC (Near Field Communications) enabled on both phones, just tap them and within minutes the transfer will take place. For a limited time, Samsung will not charge any fees for using Tap to Transfer although by pointing this out, it seems obvious that Samsung will eventually tack a fee onto the amount of the funds transferred. You can even send money directly to a Mastercard or Visa debit card by tapping your phone directly with the card. The chip embedded in the debit card will allow you to make the transfer even if the other party doesn't use a digital wallet. The other person must be using Samsung Wallet for this option. Find the recipient in your contacts and with the phone number associated with the Mastercard or Visa debit card in their Samsung Wallet, you can send funds directly to their bank account. The minimum transaction allowed is $1 and the maximum transaction size is $500. The daily transaction limit is $500 and no more than 10 transactions are allowed over a 24-hour period. The weekly transaction limit is $1,500 with no more than 50 transactions allowed over a 7-day period. The monthly transaction limit is $7,000 with no more than 50 transactions permitted to take place in a 30-day period. Samsung says that you can use Tap to Transfer in the following scenarios: Pay a friend back for last week's dinner Receive money from a group of friends to buy concert tickets Collect payment from people not in the user's contact list by directly tapping their debit card onto the user's phone Send funds to others regardless of location by simply searching for their Samsung account All U.S. domestic Samsung phones that are "Samsung Wallet eligible" and have Android 12 or later installed can use Tap to Transfer.

Samsung Wallet will let you send money to other phones and cards
Samsung is making it easier for Galaxy phone users to quickly send money to friends and family. A contactless Tap to Transfer feature will be available for Samsung Wallet users in the US 'later this month' that allows users to directly pay into someone else's bank account without using third-party services like Venmo or Cash App. The new peer-to-peer payment feature can transfer money from Visa or Mastercard debit cards stored within Samsung Wallet, using NFC to connect with the debit card in a recipient's wallet app. Because the feature works by connecting to the card itself, it will work with any digital wallet — not just other Samsung Wallet users. The feature can also transfer directly to a physical debit card if the recipient doesn't have a wallet app, provided the card's chip supports tap-to-pay. Sending money directly to debit cards is easier than requiring everyone to have the same third-party payment apps installed on their devices, and removes the need to wait for a traditional bank transfer. Doing so contactlessly also saves time on setting up new recipients, making it less cumbersome to split bills when large groups are paying for meals or experiences. Samsung says that users can also send money to other Samsung Wallet users who aren't nearby by using their phone number to search for their Samsung account, allowing peer-to-peer transactions to be completed remotely if people can't hang around while the bill is being handled.

Samsung's Tap to Transfer Feature Makes Paying Your Friends Less of a Pain
Samsung on Tuesday said it's adding a tap-to-pay feature to Galaxy phones that should make paying back your friends and family a little easier. Called Tap to Transfer, the new capability lets you send money that arrives within minutes, according to the company. The feature will be available later this month in Samsung Wallet. Through a partnership with Visa and Mastercard, Samsung smartphone owners can now use a debit card stored in their Samsung Wallet to send money to someone's bank account via NFC technology, even if the recipient uses a digital wallet on a non-Samsung device. They can either connect to a recipient's debit card stored in their digital wallet, or transfer money to a physical debit card, as long as it has tap-to-pay capabilities. People can also send money to another Samsung Wallet even if the recipient isn't nearby; they'll just need to find their Samsung account by searching their phone number. "Many users want the flexibility to accomplish their most frequent and important tasks on their mobile device," Drew Blackard, Samsung Electronics America's senior vice president of mobile product management, said in a statement. "Samsung Wallet will help make payments to friends and family quick and convenient." Samsung Wallet launched in 2022 as a way to digitally store everything from credit cards to IDs to boarding passes. It offers similar functionality to other digital wallets like Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. These platforms can speed up in-store payments by allowing you to simply tap your phone at checkout, while also storing everything from gym memberships to loyalty cards and gift cards. Analysts predict the value of tap-to-pay transactions from digital wallets will rise more than 150% by 2028, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
