Blind date: ‘He said he was taking a break from his faith'
TAYLOR A.: 25 / grants assistant When she is happiest: Laughing with friends Her perfect Saturday: Diving into Bible study 8:30 P.M. EARL'S, PRUDENTIAL Believe the Process Tarik I was in a rush since I had the date after work. Once I got into the Uber I was in a much calmer state of mind. Taylor I definitely felt nervous. I listened to my favorite music while getting ready and that helped calm me down. Tarik I was around 12 minutes late. Taylor was there when I arrived. The host walked me to our table on the second floor. It was a suspenseful walk up the stairs. Advertisement Taylor I was on time. He was about 30 minutes late. Tarik I was impressed. Taylor has a very pretty face, especially eyes. Taylor He seemed shy. Having Faith Tarik We talked about our jobs. Taylor works on grants and philanthropy, which was interesting to hear about. I did ask if she drank alcohol. She said that she doesn't drink that much. I also don't drink that much so I ordered seltzer water. We talked about hobbies such as reading. Taylor I discovered that he enjoys traveling and is into art and anime. We talked about our hobbies and interests, what types of movies and shows we like to watch and musicians we enjoyed listening to. Tarik I ordered the Southwest salad. We got truffle fries as an appetizer. The food and service at Earl's was great. For dessert we both ordered créme brûlée and that was the standout. Advertisement Taylor He actually chose to order everything that I had ordered for his meal as well. The food was great and the service was phenomenal. That's honestly why I love Earl's. Tarik I felt comfortable getting to know Taylor. She checked the boxes that I look for attraction-wise. I wouldn't say that we had a spark, but I could see the potential down the line. Taylor I felt comfortable enough. I would not say that I got more comfortable as the date progressed, though. Tarik I asked if she was open to going on a second date. She responded with this question: 'Are you a Christian?' I replied that I'm on a break. This seemed to be a deal breaker. Taylor He seemed like a really nice guy. However, when he said he was taking a break from his faith, that was a deal breaker for me. At a Crossroads Tarik We decided to go our separate ways after dinner. I think we were both tired toward the end. I thought about asking for her number but I decided to just leave it be. She thanked me and said that I gave her hope. Taylor He asked if we could go on another date. I was honest with him and said that it wouldn't be best for me to date someone who did not share the same faith. He was very respectful of that and I appreciated it a lot. Second Date? Tarik I don't think we will go out again. I don't think I'm what she is looking for. Advertisement Taylor No. We will not go on another date. Grading the Date Tarik / B+ Taylor / C- Go on a blind date. We'll pick up the tab. Fill out an application at . Founded in 2024 by Khalid Aoussar and two other founders, VOVE ID offers enetrprises identities verification tools. The fresh capital will support VOVE ID's regional expansion, platform development, and team growth. Moroccan regtech startup VOVE ID has secured new investment from The Baobab Network to accelerate its growth across Africa and the Middle East. The funding (amount undisclosed) marks a key milestone for the high-end digital identity verification company, which launched earlier this year and has already gained rapid traction with its secure, AI-driven Know Your Customer (KYC) platform. Founded in 2024 by Khalid Aoussar, Tarik, and Youssef—alumni of Timeless Investment GmbH, RemotPass, and Pipedrive respectively—VOVE ID is aiming to transform how businesses verify identities in the $18.6 billion global KYC market. Its 'verify once, use everywhere' approach allows users to reuse a verified digital identity across multiple platforms, simplifying onboarding while maintaining regulatory compliance. The platform supports features such as biometric authentication and automated document checks, already attracting clients across the MENA and African regions. The fresh capital will support VOVE ID's regional expansion, platform development, and team growth. As part of The Baobab Network's accelerator programme, VOVE ID will also gain strategic mentorship and access to a broader ecosystem to navigate regulatory challenges and scale faster. VOVE ID's core mission is to democratise access to enterprise-grade KYC tools for startups and SMEs often priced out of traditional solutions. With modular integration, pay-as-you-go pricing, and a user-friendly interface, the startup enables even the smallest businesses to implement robust verification systems without compromising on quality or compliance. 'Having The Baobab Network on board is a game-changer,' said co-founder and CEO, Aoussar. 'We're building a future where verifying your identity is seamless, secure, and accessible—regardless of business size or geography.'
