California Imam Tarik Ata on DC Shooting of Israeli Staffers: Politicians Expressing Outrage Are Privately Pleased — It Strengthens Their Narrative; They've Been Chosen by the Devil, Not God
In a Friday sermon delivered at the Orange County Islamic Foundation in California on May 23, 2025, Imam Tarik Ata discussed the Capital Jewish Museum attack, in which two Israeli embassy staffers were killed. He qualified that it is against the law to do something like that, 'even if they are employed by an entity that is the worst of the worst.' Ata said that he expects politicians who have expressed outrage over the murder and claimed it was an expression of antisemitism to be privately pleased with the attack, saying: 'This is exactly what we needed,' because it strengthens their narrative. He asked them to spare the outrage, saying it is nothing more than an attempt to gain political leverage, because they are 'the most inhumane people' on Earth. Although they falsely claim to be God's Chosen People, Ata declared they are, in fact, the 'Devil's Chosen People.' Earlier, on October 28, 2023, Ata asserted that the October 7 attack did not happen in a vacuum, insisting that Palestinians did not cross into Israel and start killing people unprovoked. He further claimed that Jews have forfeited their right to the land due to disbelief in the Prophet Muhammad

California Imam Tarik Ata at Cal Poly Muslim Students Association Event in October 2023: Palestinians Did Not Cross into Israel and Start Killing People Unprovoked – There Is Something There Called Al
Tarik Ata, the Imam of the Orange Country Islamic Foundation, said that the October 7 attack did not happen in a vacuum, Palestinians did not cross into Israel and start killing people unprovoked. He said that the Jews have forfeited their right to the land because they disbelieved in the Prophet Muhammad and that now it is the Muslims who hold the message of Allah, therefore the Al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to them, and they will retake it. He was speaking at an October 28, 2023 event titled 'Islamic History and the Significance of Palestine,' which was organized by California's Chino Valley Islamic Center in collaboration with California Polytechnic State University's Muslim Student Association. Imam Ata cited the Quranic Al-Israa chapter, saying that the Jews would spread corruption twice when they gained political might. He asserted that while Muslims 'don't have the money to compare with them…' Zionist supporters are a mere fraction of the two billion Muslims in the world, and he called on his followers to wage battle on social media. 'We can literally flood the comments section. We can manipulate the algorithm.'
