Driver jailed after woman, 69, fatally knocked down in Batley
A driver has been jailed after a 69-year-old woman was fatally knocked down in Batley.
Tasham Mahmood, 33, from Heckmondwike, pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court to causing the death of Carol Andrew by dangerous driving.
Carol, who was 69, was crossing White Lee Road on the evening of 22 July 2021 when she was hit by a grey Seat Leon.
She suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.
Mahmood, was arrested at the scene.
He was sentenced to four years in jail and also disqualified from driving for seven years. He will have to pass an extended test before he can drive again.
Carol's family said she was 'greatly missed by her family and friends'.
