New England chain restaurant to open new Mass. location this year

A popular New England chain restaurant is slated to open its newest location later this year. Tavern in the Square is planning to open its new Braintree restaurant by late summer/early fall, a spokesperson for the company told MassLive. The restaurant will take over the former space of TGI Friday's at 60 Forbes Road in Braintree. Braintree Tavern in the Square will have a large bar and indoor dining room in addition to a spacious covered patio. 'We're excited to bring the Tavern in the Square experience to the South Shore and look forward to becoming part of the Braintree community,' the spokesperson said. The opening would mark Tavern in the Square's 14th Massachusetts spot and its 18th overall — joining other locations in New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The chain restaurant is also eyeing a new location in Bedford, New Hampshire, according to its website. Tavern in the Square is turning 20 in 2025. The chain restaurant is known for its scratch-made American cuisine, including an extensive selection of gluten-free and allergy-friendly options. Massachusetts Tesla charging stations intentionally set on fire, investigators believe

The Massachusetts State Fire Marshal's office says a fire at a bank of Tesla charging stations is believed to have been intentionally set and is being investigated as suspicious. The fire happened Monday morning on Constitution Ave. in Littleton. The charging stations are located close to several businesses, including the Tavern in the Square restaurant and Market Basket grocery store. The fire marshal's office did not say why the fire was considered suspicious, but said they expect to release more information soon. Recent Tesla vandalism reports Tesla products have been the targets of vandalism in recent weeks in several states. Tesla CEO Elon Musk endorsed President Donald Trump and is now the head of the president's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). A Massachusetts man told WBZ-TV he has been threatened because he drives a gold Cybertruck made by Tesla. Someone put a profane sticker on the vehicle, and when he posted a photo of it on social media the man told police he started getting threats online. Over the weekend in Maryland, graffiti was found at a Tesla dealership a day after nearly 300 protesters gathered outside the business to protest Mush and his push to slash government spending. Police said the graffiti said "No Musk" with a sign that resembles a swastika. In Northern Colorado last month, police arrested a suspect who had been wanted for allegedly placing incendiary devices at a Tesla dealership. That investigation began in January when the dealership was vandalized and devices were found on scene.
