How eligible taxpayers can get free tax filing assistance in NYS
N.Y. (ABC22/FOX44) – Eligible New York residents can use the free Taxpayer Assistance Program to get help with filing, according to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
Any taxpayers with a gross income of $84,000 or less, plus an investment income of $11,600 or less are qualified for assistance.
Three virtual TAP sessions will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on March 26, April 2 and 9. Anyone interested in participating must have an active email account, all income tax documents and more.
People not eligible to participate in TAP may qualify for other free tax services. Programs like Direct File and Free File will allow eligible New Yorkers to use their services. Additional filing options are also available.
