Police chase on foot through snow leads to two arrests in Warren
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Warren man is facing numerous charges after a late-night chase this weekend.
According to police reports, officers were attempting to make a traffic stop on a 2012 Chevy Traverse that failed to use a turn signal at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The car did not stop, leading to a pursuit.
Reports state the chase started southbound on Parkman Road and ended eastbound on Union Street, with the car stopping and two passengers getting out of the vehicle.
After officers failed to arrest the driver due to snowy and icy conditions, a Taser was deployed two times. Each time, the driver was able to get back up and an officer reported that he appeared to have a firearm in hand, the report stated. The driver then fell and was apprehended, according to reports. No firearm was found, the report stated.
A K-9 did find a Glock 19X in the backyard of a home in the 1600 block of Hamilton St., the report stated.
The driver, identified in the report as Tayjhon Baugh, was charged with failure to comply with order, improperly handling firearms, obstructing official business, driving under a suspended license, signaling before changing course and having weapons under disability.
The passenger, Rae'kwon Rodgers, was also taken into custody after a chase with another officer, according to the report. Rodgers was arrested on an outstanding warrant on a possession of dangerous drugs charge, and he was charged with obstructing official business.
Rodgers and Baugh are both due back in court on Feb. 6.
