Station revamp on hold as contractor pulls out
Work on a £3.3m redevelopment of Skegness railway station has been put on hold after the contractor pulled out. East Midlands Railway (EMR) confirmed that Taziker Ltd had stopped work on the scheme and it is now seeking a new partner to complete it. The project, funded by money from the government's Town Deal fund, is designed to reconfigure the layout of the station to improve passenger flow. A spokesperson for EMR said: "We are working swiftly to appoint a new delivery partner to ensure construction is completed as soon as possible." "We remain fully committed to the redevelopment of Skegness station and are very excited about the customer and wider community benefits this project will deliver," the spokesperson added. Work had been due to be completed by 25 May and it was unclear how the latest development would affect the overall timescale of the project, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said. Taziker Ltd has been approached for comment.
