Real Madrid mainstay a doubt for France's UEFA Nations League semi-final vs Spain
Real Madrid's French entourage has already linked up with Didier Deschamps' squad in anticipation of the upcoming UEFA Nations League semifinal between France and Spain. Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni are amongst the players called up and a part of the manager's preferred lineup when fit. While the former is ready to start, however, the same cannot be said about the latter. Advertisement Tchouameni largely struggled with his fitness in the recent season and regularly found himself on the sidelines nursing from some serious setback. Now, he may well miss his national team's game as relayed by MARCA. Doubt against Spain As reported by the Spanish outlet, it is very unlikely that Tchouameni faces Spain this weekend for he has not trained with the group from June 1st. It was expected that he would return to group training this afternoon but the player appears to be running behind schedule on his recovery. Receiving the green light before the game, thus, is unlikely. Tchouameni likely to miss France vs Spain. (Photo by Juan Manuel) The situation for Didier Deschamps, thus, is an unpleasant one for he is without William Saliba, Jules Kounde, and Dayot Upamecano for the tournament, all three of whom are bonafide starting defenders.' Advertisement The midfielder's blow comes as a massive one in the grand scheme of things for the manager has no like-for-like profile replacement. Matteo Guendouzi and Warren Zaire-Emery come to mind but are not as defensively sound as Tchouameni is. The semi-final will be held in a single leg on Thursday night in Stuttgart and Spain can be considered slight favorites given their relative lack of injuries. Needless to say, however, it is bound to be a fiercely fought battle. From Real Madrid's perspective, meanwhile, they will hope the player plays no part tomorrow night and is fit in time for the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid down to bare bones in defence after suspension sidelines 25-year-old for Mallorca clash
Real Madrid down to bare bones in defence after suspension sidelines 25-year-old for Mallorca clash If losing their fourth consecutive Clasico to Barcelona was not painful enough, Real Madrid have been hit with yet another setback, this time in the form of a suspension to Aurelien Tchouameni, who will now miss their upcoming La Liga clash against Mallorca. The French midfielder picked up a costly yellow card in the 36th minute of Sunday night's seven-goal thriller at Montjuic. The booking came after Tchouameni, deployed as an emergency centre-back, brought down Ferran Torres while acting as the last man. Advertisement Referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez showed no hesitation in issuing the caution, which now rules the 25-year-old out of Matchday 36 due to an accumulation of bookings. Never-ending problems for Real Madrid Tchouameni's absence only deepens Real Madrid's already alarming defensive crisis. Carlo Ancelotti is already without five key defensive figures, namely, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga, all sidelined due to injury. Tchouameni will miss the Mallorca game through suspension. (Photo by) The Italian tactician now finds himself with only three fit first-team defenders: Lucas Vázquez, Fran Garcia, and the inexperienced Raúl Asencio. Advertisement As a result, Ancelotti may be forced to reshuffle his starting XI once again, either by altering players' positions or dipping into the youth ranks. Time for Jacobo Ramon? The likeliest candidate to be promoted is Jacobo Ramon, a centre-back from Castilla who was already on the bench for the Clasico. Full-back Youssef Enriquez has also joined the senior squad as additional cover. Real Madrid's depth is now being severely tested at a crucial stage of the season. With the La Liga title hopes slipping further away after another El Clasico defeat, the latest setback could prove pivotal in the run-in. Ancelotti will need to conjure up solutions fast as Los Blancos look to stabilise their defence and salvage what's left of the domestic campaign.

Swap Deal? Real Madrid Eye Chelsea Star Fernandez
Real Madrid are closely monitoring Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as they assess their summer transfer plans. Sources indicate that while Fernandez is committed to the Stamford Bridge project, the lure of the Bernabeu could prove difficult to resist should an offer materialise. Los Blancos remain focused on assembling a new generation of Galacticos capable of dominating LaLiga and European football for years to come. Having already secured the services of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham in recent seasons, Real Madrid are now weighing up a move for the highly-rated Argentine midfielder. Despite Madrid's interest, Chelsea are reluctant to sanction a sale. Fernandez remains a pivotal figure for Enzo Maresca, and the club are keen to build around the World Cup winner as they strive to return to the top of English football. Fernandez arrived at Stamford Bridge in January 2023 for a then-club-record fee of £107m. The 24-year-old signed a lengthy contract until 2032, ensuring Chelsea hold a strong negotiating position. Consequently, any deal would likely require a significant bid from Real Madrid, possibly surpassing the sum Chelsea paid to Benfica. TEAMtalk sources confirm that, while Fernandez is content at Chelsea, a formal approach from Madrid could turn his head. 'If a call comes from Madrid, it will be hard for him to ignore,' an insider revealed. A straight cash deal could be financially challenging for Real Madrid, given their extensive transfer ambitions this summer. However, sources suggest a swap deal could be explored, with Aurelien Tchouameni emerging as a potential makeweight. Chelsea are long-term admirers of Tchouameni and are eager to strengthen their defensive midfield options, particularly as Romeo Lavia has struggled with injuries. Madrid could use this interest to facilitate a deal for Fernandez, should both clubs find a mutually beneficial agreement. Tchouameni remains a key player for Carlo Ancelotti, and Madrid would be reluctant to part with the French international unless they believe Fernandez offers a significant upgrade. However, Chelsea's midfield rebuild—bolstered by the expected return of Andrey Santos from his loan at Strasbourg—means they have room for flexibility should a deal make sense. With Fernandez's future uncertain, Chelsea are considering alternative midfield reinforcements. Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo is a player of interest, with the Blues keeping a close eye on his development. Meanwhile, Andrey Santos is set to return after a successful loan spell in Ligue 1. The young Brazilian is expected to push for first-team minutes, creating a potential selection headache for Maresca. If Chelsea fail to secure additional midfield depth, keeping Fernandez could be imperative to their ambitions next season. While Real Madrid's admiration for Fernandez is clear, negotiations remain in the early stages. If Chelsea stand firm, Los Blancos may have to reconsider their approach, with a straight cash deal appearing unlikely at this stage.

Real Madrid duo emerge as top targets for Manchester United's summer rebuild
Manchester United are preparing for a crucial summer transfer window as they look to strengthen key areas of their squad. In that regard, according to a recent update from Fichajes, the Premier League giants have identified two Real Madrid players—Andriy Lunin and Aurelien Tchouameni—as their primary targets. The English club believes these additions will address the weaknesses they have faced this season and are willing to make a substantial financial offer to convince the Spanish side. Lunin's situation has particularly caught the attention of Manchester United due to the inconsistency of Andre Onana. The Ukrainian goalkeeper has proven his ability when called upon at Real Madrid, delivering strong performances in the absence of Thibaut Courtois. However, with Courtois set to return from injury, Lunin's role is expected to be limited once again. This could push him towards considering an exit, and Manchester United see him as a dependable solution to their goalkeeping problems. Bringing him in would provide the stability they have lacked between the posts this season. Meanwhile, the pursuit of Tchouameni highlights Manchester United's ambition to reinforce their midfield with a high-calibre player. Despite a challenging start at Real Madrid, the Frenchman has cemented his place in Carlo Ancelotti's system and is now a key figure for the club. Manchester United are prepared to invest around €80 million in an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford. This amount would allow Real Madrid to recover the fee they paid for him in 2022, making it a tempting financial proposal. However, convincing Real Madrid to part ways with Tchouameni will not be easy as his growing influence in midfield and the appreciation he has gained from the Santiago Bernabeu faithful make his departure highly unlikely. Even so, Manchester United remain determined to pursue both Lunin and Tchouameni, and their persistence in the transfer market could lead to unexpected developments in the summer.
