Celebrity football match returns to south Essex raising awareness for autism and ADHD
A much-loved celebrity football match has made its return to south Essex to raise awareness for autism and ADHD.
The United for Charity event at the Len Salmon Stadium, in Bowers and Pitsea on May 10, attracted more than 350 people.
In partnership with Team Avery Essex and Anna Kennedy Online, the event raised more than £1,700 while shining a spotlight on Autism and ADHD awareness.

Founder Chris Cooper said: "We organised similar matches before the pandemic, and when Team Avery Essex and Dr. Anna Kennedy OBE approached us to bring them back, it didn't take much convincing.
"This event wasn't about formal training - it was about community, connection, and celebrating inclusivity."

Bowers & Pitsea FC generously sponsored the venue, and founder Chris Cooper added a special thanks to Darren Scorey for helping make the day possible.
Highlights of the event also included stalls from various businesses, inflatables, performances by the Urban Twirlers Majorettes, a mini youth tournament, and the main event.

The match provided thrilling entertainment, with the team turning around a 0-4 halftime score to win 5-4.
Former professional goalkeeper Ian Bentley said: "It was a pleasure to play.

"The event was well organised and the kids were so polite - a real credit to their families."
Dr. Anna Kennedy OBE added: "It was sunny, welcoming, and truly inclusive. Huge thanks to Team Avery and United for Charity for bringing everyone together.'

Celebrity attendees included Sen Monro, Tony Curl, Nicky Simmonds, Ian Bentley, and James Pope.
Thanks were extended to Acclaim Contracts Ltd (kit sponsor), DJ Aston Avery & James from Gateway 97.8, the many volunteers, family members, and supporters who made the event a success.
Mr Cooper added: "This day wasn't just about football. It was about showing that inclusivity is key to community success."
